What a shit way to win your race. By your team playing emotional radio messages.

What I don't get is why we're they so worried about keeping Norris ahead of Lewis? He wasn't really a threat was he? They panicked themselves into a mess.

Relative F1 novice and missed the crucial part of the live coverage - why did Norris have to give up his position?

Piastri was leading but McLaren pitted Norris first to make sure they didn't lose position to Hamilton. Piastri then pitted a few laps later but came out behind Norris as Lando was faster on fresh tyres. Usually whoever is leading would get priority on pitstops, so they told Norris to give up the lead.

Sky are so so biased against Verstappen. Not even a Max fan, but their obsession with him is strange. Lewis admitted the incident was a racing incident, and yet they still continue to claim it was a slam dunk penalty

Unnecessary call by McClaren there's a sense that's there's a lack of confidence in their race strategy staff particularly in race. Norris had closed the gap, Hamilton had obviously cooked his new tyres early so it was an overly conservative call. Mclaren garage was split on the decision to switch - more than a few wanted Norris to hold the position to send a message to Red Bull for the driver's championship. Going to look foolish if there's less than 10 pts or so in the final standings.
Would have been interesting what they did if Max had got past Hamilton and closed on Piastri.

No it is a slamdunk - seen many penalties given for exactly that on that particular corner. Can't take the line Max did at that speed late braking on that turn - there isn't the space. Max being old Max - driving angry and on the reckless side.

I didn’t once say it wasn’t his fault. Plus, Lewis said it was a racing incident, and yet sky ignored that comment and just heaped criticism on Max even when the conversation wasn’t about him

come on that was a slam dunk penalty, way too late and lost control leading to the collision

They need to be stricter on penalties for stuff like this, no doubt Max will go on a rampage now like he did in 2021 and try to run everyone off the track at every corner.

After the first incident when he went off track he said it wasn’t his fault so he will just knock everyone off the track.

Hamilton is being diplomatic.

See what the stewards have said. And I quote “Hamilton could have done more to avoid the collision”

He was criticised a few times. Just couldn’t remember what she said specifically.

she said the way he rants and raves at people in the team is appalling and is bullying and telling fans of his team if they don’t like it “stay at home” is childish and not acceptable

Sky etc seem to forget that lewis himself was an extremely unsportsmanlike teammate in his younger years. See his battle with Alonso in 07, and him reacting very badly to being fairly beaten by Button (eg complaining publically he didn’t have the same car) and that’s not even mentioning rosberg.

I disagree, I agree with the thing about the team, but he gives straight answers to the media and not the media-savvy manufactured answers everyone else does and they can’t handle it

I mean that is a stupid thing to say from the stewards. It would have to have been almost a deliberate crash for Hamilton not to be able to do more to avoid it - but the emphasis shouldn't be on him, Verstappen is clearly the one initiating the collision.

Anyway as to your point - yes there is bias but Max doesn't help make himself a hard person to like. Whether that is with his frankly dangerous driving, his petulance on the radio or his abject rudeness at times I'm not surprised he doesn't have too many fans in the media.

To an extent, but it was a hell of a lunge that basically required everyone else to make allowances for him driving like an idiot. And once he locked the brakes it didn't matter how much space Lewis left - he was heading off. in fact had Lewis left more space chances are he would have been taken out completely as well.

The stuff on the radio was childish and petulant as well.

McLaren got themselves in an almighty mess scared of a threat that was never really there.

But with Norris, who was clearly much faster, had he let Piastri through early on he'd have had a lot of laps to argue he should be let past (or just overtake on his own).

That could see a lot of disharmony in that team. Imagine if Norris now lost the Championship by less than 7 points?

McLaren's strategy set-up isn't working well and some major mistakes this season seems to have created a sense of doubt in the team.
There's definitely an argument for Norris letting Piastri through earlier then attacking him.
Key issue for Norris is to start better. That's what's probably cost him at least 2 of the last few races.

McLaren handed the whole situation ridiculously. trying to guilt trip and gaslight Norris.

Their awful strategy and panic that lewis was a threat created the mess.

Piastri after pitting should have been quicker on fresh tyres could could not even get in to the dirty air of Norris car. The undercut wasn't worth 6 seconds.

Panicked because they made a mess of concentrating on Max at Silverstone that probably cost them the race. This time overly cautious about Hamilton who really wasn't a threat having cooked both his sets of hards in going too quick earlier in the early laps after each pitstop.
The notion of "this isn't how you win championships" was just bollocks. How do they know that haven't won one for years. That's how Mercedes and Red Bull have done it for ages - you get an Alpha number one driver.
Key to bringing in the big sponsors is having the World champion driver.

I hope it's a 3 way battle all the way to the end of the season

That will be Perez done at Red Bull

Started 2 finished 8

Verstappen starts 11 finished 5
