I think you'll be surprised how deep this will go. I don't think Doug's relationship with the fans will ever recover from this.

This isn't putting boxes prices up beyond what you initially said or upping kids prices is it?

People will moan and gripe but eventually they accept it. This is far worse, and I agree, be difficult to heal the rift with the fans, well, most of us.

, surely something had to change,we’ve been awful since the wolves game, spent millions on players to play in a formation we don’t even play, one of our best ever managers at this level and maybe there’s the issue, he’s a good championship manager, gutted he’s been sacked but you can’t really argue looking at the results and peformances,Doug’s put his neck on the line, he knows exactly what’s coming if he’s got it wrong, takes some bollocks to be fair,

That doesn't fill me with any confidence to be honest, that he's got the bollocks to potentially f*ck it all up.

It just seems to be becoming Doug King's Coventry City, rather than just Coventry City.

It's worrying.

Didn't have the bollocks to go on the radio and explain his decision though, did he?

And, you're right, Otis. Seems to be more about King than the club now.

Do you think it was getting to the point where it was going to happen either this season or next, imagine if we finished mid table and had the usual slow start next season , we’d be at the same point, maybe he’s pulled the trigger to quick maybe he’s got it spot on, your right though it’s his club and it looks like he’ll do what he thinks is right, if he gets it Right, genius, dread to think if it Goes the other way, lets just see what happens, he’s got some bollocks on him

Surely the results back up his decision, but your right he was all over the place last season, fair play though he’s facing the fans Monday

He undermined Robins and set him up to fail.
He'll do the same to the next man if he takes the limelight off him.

Any c**t that's ever sang that pathetic song should be fucking ashamed,, fuckwits.

We don’t know what’s happened, probably never will, but you can’t say he didnt back him, if we hadn’t lost to sheff weds Swansea Norwich and derby he’d still be in a job, he’s done it purely on results, we’ve not been good enough, robins even said himself After derby it was on him,he changed the team that won the last 2 games ?

I'm on about style of play.

Robins had us efficient and eradicated the pussy loser mentality we had. I'm just saying league 1 is the last time I remember us having a real brand of football

Gyok and hamer magic moments helped propel us to playoff final. That's not a slight on robins

None of this is putting robins down. I'm just saying I don't remember seeing us carve teams apart with fluid passing and movement much
Robins had us playing some excellent football in the Championship. I think the alleged recent events in his life took a toll. In the future and I think with hindsight, he’ll himself likely admit that himself.

Mate, I keep saying this to people, it's not difficult to join the dots, it's really not.
Of course Robins shoulders some responsibility for results. And they've given King the excuse he's been looking for.
But there was clearly a process being put in place to undermine him. As I say, join the dots. This all began long before this seasons bad start.

Think the problem is for the last 2 seasons the teams pretty much picked itself, he’s had to manage players this season who’ve come here thinking they’ll be starting every week, a lot of egos to manage and it looks like he struggled to do it,

You think Vik, Hamer and O'Hare didn't have egos to manage?
He's had his coaching staff removed and the demographic of the squad changed on him.

but If you believe the stories coming out and there’s truth behind them, the issue was robins and the players that were the problem, players being dropped from the squad for complaining about not playing, you’ve got to admit he made some odd decisions, dropping dovin for no reason, Bassette never even got a minute in 3 games, he does change the Team too much, we’ve never had a settled 11 you don’t see the top teams doing what we do

What I don’t get is IF someone like Lampard comes in, then will they want their own coaching team or will they just bend over and accept the team Doug’s put in place?

Reason being is if robins didn’t want the coaching team around him that was brought in post adi viveash, but then allows the new manager to bring his own people in, then that is yet another massive slap in the face to robins. (Obviously all very speculative as that assumes robins didn’t select these coaches)

interestingly, I’d say Lampard comes in and wants JT and Jody Morris for example, then JT has already worked with John Dempster at Villa and got a good relationship. Again all very speculative thought based on assumptions only)

I've never said he's beyond criticism.
But he lost Lawrence, not replaced, lost Viveash, not replaced, lost the experienced players, not replaced, denied access to the loan market.

All things that had helped bring success.
Why did wechange it? Its blindingly obvious.

Vik and hamer were Undroppable, we had a poor squad, he’s got plsyers this season on the bench who maybe think they’re better than what they are, it’s the first time he’s had that problem, looks like he’s struggled to do it ?

I’d imagine Robins was involved to an extent with the new coaching team and involved in the interview process. It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that some of them will go already to accommodate the new manager.

See my last post, he was set up to fail.
I fear for us going forward, anyone who think Lampard fronting the IT Crowd will bring us success is deluded.

Read Sheps thread, it's fucking frightening.

dont think it’s undermining robins, im Pretty certain king thought it would just be a smooth transition, replace Lawrence and viveash and somehow robins would just carry on doing what he does, and I’m certain with a couple of more wins we’d be around top 6 and robins would still be here, like I’ve said before king with either turn out to be a genius with what he’s trying to do or absolutely clueless, it’s a bit early to judge

People still don’t understand that this is a short term project for King.

Stepping stone. If he did alright he’d be off to a bigger club at the first sniff, there’d be no loyalty and we’ll be back to the scrap heap.

PS. Some of you need to realise that not many are going to blindly lap up the “process”.

So gutted to see MR go I don’t think I’d be jumping for joy with any new head coach.

Of the names mentioned Bloomfield, Sheehan, Carsley e.t.c Lampards CV is the most experienced so could understand it.

He always comes off as fairly articulate and tbf I could see the players respecting him if he came in.

I was worried we’d struggle to recruit in January given where we are but a name like Lampard may help us get some signings over the line.

Writing was on the wall when the pre season team photo came out with him sitting there gurning like he’d dropped 10 e’s

Didn’t robins do the same when he went to Huddersfield, then scunthorpe, only came back because it didn’t work out,

What process? It’s about as real as ‘the model’.

An alternative perspective:

This is a great outcome for Mark. He leaves still a hero, the victim. He leaves with the crowd with him not against him. He leaves without it going horribly sour in the way most managers leave. He leaves with 2 years money and a great reputation in the EFL. Just like Eric Black he will forever be remembered as a manager with very few negative memories.

IF and it’s a big IF we find a manager that gets us promoted and we kick on again as a club then we as fans win too. If we get promoted and King sells the club to a much wealthier owner who keeps us as a Premier league club we win again.

Elite sport is about fine margins ….. remember that play off final. We didn’t turn up for 60 mins under Robins, the same in the Semi Final. They are two of my personal favourite recent moments with City but even during them they felt like they were turning sour for a long period.

I will be forever grateful to Mark, i have nothing but positive memories of him, but i‘M a Coventry City fan. The club will always come before any individual for me. Always has.

Would be our first bottom half finish since our first season up. The bar is top ten bare minimum for me. To justify the sacking really whoever it is needs to make the playoffs.
This side isnt good enough for the play offs, to many average players, probably not even good enough for a top half finish. Need some loans in January to give us a boost
