Maybe I'm hoping, but the fact King has said he wants an elite coach and tactician would make Lampard unlikely. I don't see how you look at Lampards record and think that's a high level tactician.
Trying to ignore all of the he said/she said stuff from last night, this is what I've thought about the most. There's no way he can bring in a Matt Bloomfield or someone similar now. It needs to be a Lampard, Carsley or someone like that.

On Lampard, I'm excited by his connections more than him himself. I think it's a very useful tool at this level.

It’s never really worked out though has it? I can’t think of a team promoted because their manager had good connections.

I think his biggest asset is players like Milan and Wright would look up to him, and he’d bring on people like Torp.

I watched a video of him talking tactics last night and he wasn’t particularly impressive IMO. I think he’d be an excellent coach, but we’d need someone tactical alongside him.

I’m still holding out for that Scandinavian bloke BSB mentioned.

Well I don't think he's completely useless either if that helps.
Couple of loans of the standard he got at Derby on top of what we have now would be nice.

What's Grok? I left Twitter last week after Trump won the election. Twitter will just become the propaganda arm of the Trump Administration from January. BlueSky is much nicer. No bots, no sex bots, no Temu ads, no right-wing nutters.

Can’t see that happening now that he’s dropped Lampard’s name.

He's managed at a higher level than Robins ever has, he likely has a longer managerial career to look forward to, he's played football at a higher level than Robins ever did.

We of course cannot predict the future, but to suggest that there is no way Lampard can be an upgrade on Robins is just sky blue tinted glasses (and im not suggesting you are saying this, just responding to your post!)

Plenty of footballers though who played at the very highest level and then became absolutely dreadful managers.

I'm wondering that after Kings explanation for the exiting of MR & AV that Lampard might be having second thoughts about becoming our first team coach.
DK said a few things that I was pretty surprised about and I wonder if MR legal team might be reviewing the severance agreement [if it's not already been signed].

I went to threads but will try bluesky as the former is slightly underwhelming….

I've been on there about a year but it has really picked up in the last week.

If Doug is true to his word and wants a highly qualified "best in class" coach then 100% it will not be Lampard.
It will be someone already interviewed as Robins number 2 who we either couldn't afford or wanted a number 1 role.

On the whole 'Lampard isn't a good tactician' thought - I'm not sure that's fair to be honest.

The guys played over 750 games at the highest level including over 100 international caps and has played for some of the best managers in the world.

You don't have that much experience and come out of it with poor tactical knowledge. To be one of the best midfielders in EPL history, you'd need to have a great deal of tactical awareness. You don't just run into positions on a whim etc.

I don't think Dougs comments last night necessarily rule Lampard out.

It was amusing that the question of a Director of Football came from the floor, then Doug is all over it saying, oh yeah there will be a Director of Football as well. Surely you should be setting out your plans fully at the start for the fans to understand, not a knee jerk to a question asked, sounded very amateurish to me

King will also have taken legal advice prior to the event; he's not an idiot.

Every fanbase of the clubs he's managed have all said tactically he's rigid, often devoid of ideas beyond what's initially set out, and that ability-wise he's extremely limited.

Being a great player doesn't mean you're going to be a great manager.

2bh - he changes between 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 regularly and when Everton were against it he changed to 5-4-1.

I’d suggest he has some tactical awareness and flexibility
