My mate phoned me today and said lampard was the best available .. I just said do you mean the biggest name ?
That's the reality isn't it

I think behind this for me there’s a worry about the scouting generally that we aren’t finding hidden gems but actually quite obvious buys (Rudoni, EMC, even Weight to an extent) players who pop up from one good season at the top of lists. Not much funding those with great fundamentals like we used to. If those same people are running the manager search we aren’t going to find a hidden gems, just the obvious names.

On other side of coin are there really people out there who love king and hate robins? Are there really people out there who say lampard is the best manager out there?

I don't think so. I feel like you make shit up to get angry about personally. You start arguments with anyone over it in fact.

Been smarting ever since the coaching news came out. Thought this would be done with by now. Unfortunately not. Hopefully now we back to games everyone can move on to something different

You and a few others with your opinions are desperate to make this personal. I’ll leave the observation at that.

Of course hes a big name. But it could still work

He has potential. Talks a good game. I think those pro the decision are just happy to see how it plays out.

I got one can't say for sure it will work. But I couldn't say same for anyone else on shortlist either.

I don't mind people not wanting him. Just don't get the point of trying to make out like he is a 100 percent disaster no matter what.

I wanted robins to be given more time but he's gone now so just gotta hope next guy can do a job for us.

For me he did alright in first two jobs and badly in second two. 5th and final round upcoming for a decision I guess.

Yep, you can't hide that.
Doesn't automatically mean he'll be that bad for us though.

Managers have failed at certain clubs and been successful at others, we just don't know how it'll go if he does end up being appointed.

I've said it on another post, I remember the meltdown when Sillett and Curtis were appointed and look how that worked out?

Just bemused by the attempts to big up his managerial career so far.

I'm on City's side and I'll get behind Lampard but I'm baffled by people trying to make out his record's decent.
If Leicester got rid of were trying yo bring him in no ine would be saying that's a good appointment, they'd be pissing themselves.

Would you agree that for some there is no sufficient replacement (maybe true) but even more worrying people want it to fail spectacularly just for DK to look a bit daft and MR to look like he’s the winner in all this? I’m getting so much of that vibe.

Not my aim. Just think you have picked and side and refuse to hear any other side now that's all.

I'm not interested in arguing though and I've said my piece on lampard robins and king. If anyone has an issue with my views then god help them tbh

Also: the ‘reinstate Robins’ cries on socials are the depths of embarrassment for me. Shouldn’t have been sacked but that’s just beyond silly.

I don't think one person wants it to fail. Maybe the odd loon.
What it does remind me of it the Reid situation.

I turned on Reid quickly, which I rarely do on a manager.
But it was quite obvious early on that his heart wasn't in it and he didn't want to be here. I very much doubt that will happen with Lampard.

As for King, his fan club baffle me, football club owners shouldn't get that much love so I think for them people, what some of us see as healthy scepticism, they see as hate.

I don't want any appointment to fail, but there's just something about the Lampard thing that doesn't feel right.

In his first season, he then got the following season in January with the side in 9th.

Been looking into his Chelsea seasons and one thing which caught my eye was that at the end of December they were going decent with only two points off the top.

But throughout December they struggled due to outbreaks of Covid and the FA refusing there requests to postpone which put them in a bad position in January. Might just be me putting a positive spin but I found it interesting

Healthy scepticism is fine

But saying he's lying about everything is more than that

Calling asst manager gormless twat because he has to take reigns after a sacking isn't healthy scepticm imo

Calling those that don't detest king his fanclub isn't healthy scepticm

Truth is you are the extremist here so to speak

And I'm not trying to rile you here either. Just my opinion like how you just have yours.

This is it. Hard to see us being embroiled in a relegation battle under this ownership/recruitment/coaching setup, but hard to envisage us being genuine promotion candidates moving forward. Even if we were to spend big in January I wouldn't trust a recruitment team who've had 18 months to replace Gus with at the very least one CM who profiles similarly and have failed miserably. More likely we're set to return to the uninspiring days of 2001-2012

100% if we’re being pragmatic. Of all the candidates actually in the running. Of course people like Moyes and Potter (plus other European managers) are better managers but they’re unlikely to be a) interested or b) affordable.

None of the other managers in the running have even got a promotion. Let alone a Top 4 finish and/or FA Cup final.

You're making things up
I said Carr came across as a gormless twat in his first interview, which I think he did.Was a comment on his first interview nothing else.

I know King has told lies I'm not going in to it because I can't be arsed arguing about it. Football club owner lies is hardly a startling revelation. But as fans we should always have a bit of suspicion of them, surely sisu taught us that.

And you keep using this word 'detest' I don't think anyone should detest King, its a ridiculously strong word.

Then need to do it respectfully without labelling those that are open to lampard anti robins or pro king.

I think that's fair

You'll have to link me the posts Calling people anti Robins or pro King, I can't recall them.

There are posters who've long had an anti Robins agenda though, that's nothing to do with defending Lampards record.

Exactly. Just like fanclub is

The forums becoming two extremes..

I'm here on middle trying to bring everyone together.

Join me clint. Like old times

Robins shouldn't have gone when he did.
Don't believe everything king says
But be open to fact he isn't at fault for everything
Hope the next manager gives us memories like robins did

We can all agree on that?

Well I actually came round to say Robins being sacked was right.

Not because I agreed with it but because you can't gave an owner and manager at loggerheads, it's no good for the club, but when they are, ones got to go, and it's not going to be the owner.

And I've never blamed King for everything, not once.

I bet there are one or two that secretly want Lampard to fail just so they can revisit this thread in a few months to say ‘I told you so!’..

Only kidding, whoever gets the job we all want them to be brilliant for us. They have huge shoes to fill and the reality is whoever gets the job isn’t going please everyone

Ok I'm drawing a line under this then with you

But look at ccfckssparks putting a poo emoji on:

That shows the extreme side of twats on here imo

No I’m putting the poo emoji as you say you are in the middle, despite actually when Frank was first linked you were being fairly combative supporting him and putting down anyone who didn’t fancy him for the job

I agree the list is uninspiring, I wouldn't be excited about any of them, I'd maybe be ok with Rosenior, but at this point I'd just be delighted if it's anyone (within reason) other than Lampard.

There will be some great talent out there, Eirik Horneland for one, and if we scoured the leagues of Europe and appointed someone like him who most people haven't heard of, but are very highly rated and up and coming, then I think we'd all be like 'fair play, Doug has been thorough and done his homework'.

But now it's going to look more like 'man who knows nothing about football appoints someone he's heard of'. I just have serious concerns about the decision making process and direction we're going in.

Will support the club during and after this appointment, just will be severely hoping to be proven wrong rather than enthusiastic.

I am supportive of him that's why. And I'll argue why I believe that to be the case

Don't think I've said anywhere that he's the best manager in world and ppl r stupid if they don't want him though

You guys are infuriating. People keep posting things along the lines of “why is nobody talking about him getting a top four finish??” And others are explaining why that isn’t seen a great achievement and then you’re all like “Oh so it has to be a great achievement” well yes because you said it was!!

Fucking chess with pigeons man.
That's all fine, but I'm not 'you guys' and I've never said a single word about Lampard's achievements.
That's a problem on here - chucking people onto perceived opposing camps.
I think Robins should still be here but I also think the gamble of bringing Frank in stands a chance of paying off.
