I think he'll surprise a few. Half written this season off but I hope to see us play some good football and advance up the table. The summer I think could be interesting if he's backed, he'll have decent pull and I also believe we'll see a couple of loans at a standard previously beyond us.
I also suspect he'll bring in his own coaching set up (for the most part) and they'll be a step up from where we're at currently.

I thought the Kingies said we couldn't afford and won't pay the asking price for top quality loans?

Wait and see I guess, just my prediction. Most of them end up alright.

Well I've been banging the drum for using the loan market since, well, since we stopped using it!

I've been told I was,wrong, it wasn't viable.
The mental gymnastics from those people as they salute Doug and Frank ushering in a few Chelsea starlets is going to be a joy to behold!

We’ve had plenty of Chelsea starlets thanks to Uncle Adi!

Hopefully Frank brings in better quality ones…

Loans are ok as long as they add something and don't just make up the numbers. As i say I think he'll attract a couple of good quality ones and I welcome it.

I agree the list is uninspiring, I wouldn't be excited about any of them, I'd maybe be ok with Rosenior, but at this point I'd just be delighted if it's anyone (within reason) other than Lampard.

There will be some great talent out there, Eirik Horneland for one, and if we scoured the leagues of Europe and appointed someone like him who most people haven't heard of, but are very highly rated and up and coming, then I think we'd all be like 'fair play, Doug has been thorough and done his homework'.

But now it's going to look more like 'man who knows nothing about football appoints someone he's heard of'. I just have serious concerns about the decision making process and direction we're going in.

Will support the club during and after this appointment, just will be severely hoping to be proven wrong rather than enthusiastic.

Lampard has finished in the Top 6 in the Championship, Top 4 of the Premiership, managed in the UCL and got to an FA Cup final. I’m sorry, but if you’re being objective, there isn’t a manager out there who wants the job with those achievements on its resumé.

On Horneland, there’s no indication he wants the job. Assuming he does, he’s done well in the Norwegian league, how does that translate to the Championship or English football in general?

Talking about Lampard’s failures in the Prem isn’t relevant to us as a club. If we were in the Prem, I’d understand the criticisms far more. We’re a Championship club and his record in that league is good. Better than Eustace, better than Bloomfield and probably better than any other name I’ve heard tenuously linked with us.

Why did you list his achievements in the prem and champions league if they aren’t relevant to our club?

Come on you're not silly , it's hardly like managing Bournemouth or Southampton in the Premier league is it ?

And managing us isn't like managing Plymouth or Oxford in the Championship is it?

I do think we probably will get a new manager bounce and do well for a few games.

After that, who knows. I will back Lampard, but can't say I am not concerned.

Would absolutely be delighted to be proved wrong.

Just have this sneaky fear that this could be the start of another manager merry-go-round.

The fact he’s managed at that level and is in the running of managing us is impressive in of itself.

Even so, who on the shortlist has finished in the Top 6 in the EFL, let alone the Championship bar Lampard?

For all the people bleating about Lampard, they haven’t actually mentioned someone who is objectively a better candidate.

None of the candidates mentioned get my blood pumping with excitement. It’s like winning a ‘who can get off with the ugliest bird’ competition

Look at us turning our noses up at managers taking their team to the FA Cup Final, and managing in the Champions Lesgue. Imagine this 10 years ago

Well the last 5 games we are at 1.87 ppg so it will be a hell of a bounce

I think some people are just concerned we've sacked long term stability and success for Frank lampard .

A man that's genuinley struggled in his last 2 appointments

Well this is it in a nutshell really.

He may well be brilliant for us, and I sincerely hope he is, but there is nothing wrong with pointing out his previous failures - that doesn't mean anyone wants him to fail now, that's a ridiculous thing to say.

Exactly. I’m probably coming across as ‘pro-Lampard’ because I’m saying he’s objectively the best candidate. Some of the criticisms just don’t add up, Lampard isn’t ’just a name’.

I’m ‘meh’ about it because I have my reservations but if people look at it from a level-headed approach, Lampard and his staff could potentially offer us a lot. Lampard has a good team, Jody Morris and/or Ashley Cole are excellent coaches so even if they don’t take us to the Prem, they could move the club forward in other ways.

I’m choosing to be optimistic about things and time will tell if Lampard is the appointment and ultimately, a success or not. It’s make or break for Lampard too.

You could be right. I totally get why neutral fans are ripping the p!ss out of us and 50% of our fans are flat no but I do tend to agree with a lot of the points Mucca makes and I do a bit admire him for persisting with management when he must be set for life.

The loans issue is one I hear raised quite a lot though and I'm not sure about it. At Derby he took a lot of players that had been playing for him the previous year but he left the youth set up there some time ago now.

I'm sure he still has the odd connection but lots of clubs our level will and I'm not convinced they will be offering Lampard mates rates. I do wonder if DK thinks Lampard's name might resonate better with the stamenic's of this world and attract a better class of player from abroad. I'm not convinced our transfer policy is going to change much.

What’s more important, turning us into a good footballing side ( which we haven’t been for a while ) or just getting some points on the board early doors, hopefully a bit of help in january and who knows, could turn into another great season

The league table.
Exactly, the only people who’ve come out And said we’re a top 6 side or better are Austin, who recruited them, and King who Paid for them, and if king still thinks those players are good enough then we need that director of football in very quick, that’s not a top 6 squad
