Blimey, that Wachtendonk team has to be one of the worst I have ever seen. Some of their defensive work would have looked bad in an overweight Sunday pub team.

Standard of the opposition looked pretty inferior, no way they'd cut it in the Conference.

Wow what a stadium. The level of opposition was so low as to make this exercise pointless, what a waste of money traveling abroad when we are struggling.

They are about 5 leagues below the conference equivalent I believe and the population of the area is 10 times smaller than nuneaton.

Would have been more useful to arrange a game against the Sphinx. At least that would mean one game in Coventry this year.

dont be so stupid

pre seasons always include games vs shit opposition, it gives you a chance to implent stuff you have worked on in pre season witha great level of success

then you up the ante bit by bit

its no different to a video game, you do the practice ,learn the controls etc, then play on easy mode till you get hang of it and play properly and try to get the job done on a harder difficulty.

supposedly 5th tier of german football

only if you call the thousands of amature teams all the same tier, the lower rhine league system is level 5 and they are in the 3rd level of that league system. So I guess you could say level 7 but realistically it's lower than that. I'm not really sure how the promotion works though as there is 9 divisions with 144 teams going to the level above, then 3 divisions with 48 teams going to the level above. Then above that the route up is more direct. There is getting on for 1000 teams above them in German football and thousands at the same level.

just repeating what the telegraph said. and people calling it pointless, it's all about fitness so any game is good

Sure low level opposition like Nuneaton is the norm, playing teams like Coventry United though isn't the norm as thats the sort of quality we are talking about. But anyway my problem is with them going abroad not playing low level opposition. If you want a game of football against a team that has zero chance of competing with you for fitness purposes or to try things out do it here.

As Jack Griffin said - With the club allegedly so broke it would have been saner to play Sphinx. Let us fans see the game. Bit of much needed cash for Sphinx. Fostering local connections etc. But when has sanity and football gone together? Pointless and costly exercise.

I don't mean the game is pointless, I mean the exercise of traveling to another country to play a game of the level of hundreds or thousands of amature teams in this country is pointless.

They only played that poor standard as a last minute change due to the mayor of the town of the team they were due to play cancelling the game for fear of hooliganism!
