Maybe, but we are talking about events happening right now. Events that meant I had to weigh up whether or not I wanted to take my son to Bham today, and left me worrying that the harmless preachers near the Bull Ring were going to get attacked.

and that's nothing. Millions of people born in this country will be worried about going to worship or just leaving their house dressing how they choose to dress. If that gets me a bit worked up , I'll let myself off. People should be worried about how this started.

I don't think you should tell everyone they should be worried. Most people don't spend all day on social media getting worked up. Those that do will simply damage their mental well being .

If so, if have thought he'll get nicked at the airport/port as soon as he arrives. At least it's hope so. I think he might find a few charges added to the sheet too...

I suppose the argument is, if it was racially motivated, why didn't they attack everyone else in the pub? Were they chanting, we hate whites/christians, or fuck the EDL? There's a difference.

I also think racially motivated is a higher bar (and gets a longer sentence).

It's obvious if you're attacking mosques, less so if you're attacking pubs. I'm not justifying it by the way, not for a minute. Those lads need to go away for a long time too. And if found, they will.

If that was a group of white men attacking a single guy of different ethnicity, it would be surprising if it wasn’t pursued as a racially aggravated / hate crime.

If it kicks off tommorow at the 30 events planned that Sky just mentioned I cannot see how police will cope with policing footy matches where tensions could be high. Imagine few thousand Stoke fans if result doesn't go their way. I imagine Cobra are looking very hard at this given Hull, Middlesbrough, Leeds and Millwall are all at home.

Not really. They weren't law bound as he was underage, at the time, but the Judge released his name although in law he didnt have to. And his name/ethnicity was known before the violence over the weekend, so where's the excuse for that?

Presume that post was meant for me but you misquoted, if you read again i said they were law bound NOT to release the name at the time so its not necessarily the police who should be criticised but perhaps someone above them should have acted sooner to stop the spread of the misinformation sooner

No excuse but a lot of the damage was done at this point as people had already spent days on social media whipping each other up into a frenzy.

I think this happening so quickly after the Manchester airport incident also was a factor in the response as people became convinced it was a conspiracy to protect a particular group, unjustly in their view.

Lessons should be learned as this situation now could have been prevented imo.
