Conservatives for me.

We voted for Brexit
Covid was a worldwide disaster dealt with appallingly around the world not just here
Economic crisis again has been worldwide and can't be blamed on a single countries government.
Inflation is one of the lowest in Europe, but let's not mention that because it might reflect well on them.

I'm not denying that the last 14 years have been shit but would Corbyn and Starmer have done better? I personally don't believe so.

Inflation being low is hardly something to be happy about, it just means that prices on the shelves arnt too much more than they were 12 months ago. It doesn't mean things are cheaper!!! In fact inflation measured over 24 months is still unacceptably high and is still outpacing pay rises.

What we need is a short period if de-flation if we are to get back to pre covid standards of living.

The rise of food banks, and poverty we've seen under the Tory's is shameful.

If you want to get a real heads up on the state of inflation just go ask the person who does the weekly shopping in your house.

That person won't give a flying monkeys fuck what's happening across the globe.

I ain’t a fan of this Labour Party but I think the Party it should be a broadchurch of left wing views…and shouldn’t really be about the leader: party first. At the moment I’m voting for them mostly just to help with the Tory annihilation.

As an aside, I think a bloke in work is trying to recruit me in to the Socialist Workers Party. He’s given me Trotskyist reading material and invited me to meetings etc. In the words of Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon, “I’m too old for this shit”.

A big problem with deflation (which is looking more & more likely) is that it stifles investment.....

Now keeping in mind the levels of both private & public investment in the UK have been fucking shit since 2008....deflation pressures may well result in an economic climate that would make the last few years look like a sunny walk in the park.....

The funny thing is that deflation should actually see MORE investment, not less

When things become cheaper, that's the exact correct time to invest, not to withhold that investment.

Unfortunately, with so much infrastructure in the hands of shareholders, we become stymied by the demand for dividends and profit before investment.

It's the crazy shortsightedness that causes the problem.

It seems you're implying that there's not a global economic crisis caused by a global viral event?

That'd be me, it has gone up and it's shocking. But also not helped by global economic crisis.

The Tories deserve to be wiped out, but to have them potentially not being HM’s official opposition is a scary thought for the sake of democracy. Some of the doomsday polls show the Tories and Lib Dems on 50-odd seats a piece. That’s barely more than governments official payroll and have to vote with government motions.

My point is that even though I'll vote Lub Dem or Labour this time to just oust the evil Tories, but my vote will not influence result as I'm in a true blue constituency . I would always consider voting for whats best for the country, the economy, environment and the disadvantaged in society. Agree people on both sides can be entrenched and closed minded, but I'm just talking about family and people in mid-kent where I live who just always vote blue and just wont entertain anything else regardless of harm. It's very weird as they always claim to be patriotic.
UKIP and now Reform exist because of major splits in Tory party over blaming EU for 'foreign invasion' that have been there since Maggie left. Not for the good of the country, economy, climate change or to help the underclass and poverty striken people with no aspirations.
Only Tory I might have considered voting for was John Major who had a degree of compassion, but I would vote LD and Green etc. too of it would help country.

I agree. Tories need to get themselves straight to head off Reform - who will not help the country one jot. I still fear Farage will become Conservative leader and maybe even PM one day although he's not spring chicken and 10 years of Labour likely now may put him off.

Believe it or not, Farage is younger than Starmer… I couldn’t believe it when I’d checked because Starmer looks a lot younger! It will be interesting to see how Labour’s vote total compares to Tory + Reform totals because I maintain that the public hates the tories more than they love Starmer and Labour. My personal opinion is that Labour will be in a vulnerable position despite their likely super-majority from the left and right in this next parliament.

To be frank, I’m not happy about casting my vote for anyone but it’s a civic duty and that.

Not sure we can oust our Tory either. Folkestone & Hythe.

It's been all blue here since the instigation of the consistency back in 1950.

Grrrr

Even the Tory supporters here say he's absolutely useless. Damian Collins.

Judging by our completely unscientific poll I'd say it's not looking good for the LibDems.

Conservatives for me , people keep saying 14 years of Tory hell , but they wouldn’t have got in for three terms if the first ten were that bad ,in all honesty it’s been a complete shit show since Covid , but I think it would have been the same under any party , it’s obvious Labour will win , just hope they don’t raid pension pots and increase inheritance tax

I always look for a fairer society. Or the aim of a government to create a fairer society.

Over the past 14 years, the rich have got an awful lot richer, we now have food banks and 900,000 kids have been pushed into child poverty.

The poor just keep getting poorer, while the percentage of rich people getting richer, skyrockets. That's no way to run a government.

Hoping Labour will try and rectify that in some way, but if they don't, I will be looking to another party that maybe can.

There should never be billionaires and trillionaires about, while others are starving and in poverty.

What a world we have created here. 😢

And I always look what is best for the country, for everyone, before I look to see how it affects me personally.

I am prepared to be worse off, if it helps someone less fortunate than myself.

Not convinced on Labour here, but it's the only other option right now, in a two party system, as the Lib Dems never seem to get their act together.

I am a socialist, but do accept the world has changed. Labour had to move to the centre.

Hoping there will be something new and forward thinking in the not too distant future.

Funnily enough, amongst the people I know who are about to vote for the first ever time (so 18, 19 and 20 year olds), they are all going to vote Green.

I think Greens are really popular amongst the younger generation.

Anyway, let's make the world a better and fairer place, whoever is in power. Not holding my breath though.
Agree wholeheartedly. My mantra is to not judge a society on how well the well off are doing, but how the worst off are doing.

Agree about labour - I'm not convinced and reading their manifesto it reads more like a moderate Tory one - but it would be an improvement on now.

I can see why the Greens are popular with the young (and I think a lot of people overall in an ideological way) but the spending plans are huge and I can't see their tax plans raising as much as they expect. Having said that they're still more credible than Reform!

I don't think it necessarily is a bad thing. I'm sure there was a time when people thought not having the Whigs would be a terrible thing for politics.

The only fear I have is that Reform take on that mantle and we see another lurch to the right as seems to be happening in a lot of places at the moment. That's scary. However, I'm trying to convince myself that they might get a reasonable vote share but it won't translate into a huge number of seats.

Can't see the Tories being that low - too many entrenched voters that tend to turn up at the ballot box. Could see them getting their worst ever number of seats, but think it'll be in triple figures. Maybe 120-150

If this poll is anything to go by then the Tories really are fucked. It points to the worst case scenario for the Tories and the real possibility of the Lib Dem’s in opposition.

Will vote for them until I die. Not just out of loyalty, but because the Conservatives are the most corrupt, inept, selfish, delusional bunch of cunts this country has ever witnessed.

In the past you could always point to a few Tories you knew were decent and were interested in public service. No longer. All selfish, inward looking bigots.

Cannot wait to see them absolutely annilated next week.

Gah I hate to defend a Tory, but Jeremy Wright actually seems OK whenever I've had dealings with him(!)

TBH, if I was going to mention one, I would have said him. I've met him at an opening in Southam and he seemed OK and genuinely interested in what we were doing. But, as I said, at one time I could have named a good few who were alright.

To be honest the three Conservative councillors I've met all seem like decent people who genuinely want to do well for their community. I might well disagree with them on the best ways to do that but they seem genuine enough.

I've done a manifesto analysis of the Lab/LD and Greens, who were the ones I would consider voting for, and it's confirmed my initial gut feelings.

All very close on overall ranking. Greens were top in half the policy areas, and bottom in the other half. Lab and LD were top in a quarter, bottom in a quarter and middle on half each.

So basically not really helped me with my overall decision, though I think I might end up going Lab to help retain their seat just on the remote off chance they might lose it. The others aren't going to win it and it doesn't give them any extra leverage.

*I will hopefully analyse the Tory one as well before election day to give a fair chance, but frankly it would have to be completely different to everything Sunak has been saying in his interviews and debates.

You have to factor in that Corbyn did an excellent job of keeping Labour away from governing. And then there was the Brexit bandwagon that Boris was championing.
At least we knew where he stood on the EU,
You couldn't say the same about Corbyn.

In effect there's been no opposition whatsoever for 14 years. And during that time the conservatives have grown fat due to no fucker holding them to account.

Now the country has had enough of the circus at Westminster and they'll vote for anyone who isn't a Tory. In short, Labour doesn't need to win the election, the Tories have handed it to them on a big silver plate with their utter incompetence.

The one big thing that Starmer had done, is to work exceptionally hard to make Labour look slightly less shit than the Tories.
And that's no mean feat.

You aren’t really supporting the argument to let 16 year olds vote by declaring greens are the young people’s party of choice
