I'm sure this has been discussed but... did we actually offer him a contract and he presumably turned it down?

We did offer, he hasn't actually turned it down but also not signed it. Now there is so much interest from above I doubt he ever will. We just need to get as much money up front as we can from wherever he goes to reinvest in the team now. As he's under 24 clubs have to pay compensation to us even though he's out of contract. They're trying to agree a figure directly with us to avoid a tribunal.

Thanks for that, is the team known yet as George will pick who he wants to go with the club has no involvement with that negotiation unlike a transfer

Anyone think it's likely that he'll stay?

2%.....
he's going and I wish him well.
Gave his all while in the colours, cannot ask anymore from anyone playing in the team.
Oh and a special memory in 40k+ fans minds forever.

For that alone he deserves to choose his next step in his career, he just needs to think for himself for the good of his career and his family and not his agent.
Can all to easily fall into a forgotten man in months with a wrong move in a short career

Does anyone know the answer? If George signed a new contract with us and it had a clause in we have to sell IF we receive a bid of £500,000 We could also then have add ons if his career went on and upward. presumably he could also get a share of any onward clauses! Is that at all possible?

Possible but I suspect his agent would advise him not to, as it would up the asking price for him and thus make a transfer less likely as the pice would go up). The agent makes more money from a player changing clubs, remember.

He's on the Spain trip whereas others aren't. Random if he isn't signing for us.

I can only take that as a positive sign. Robins will know the score and if there was any inclination that he was off, surely he wouldn't take him?

A very petulant response if true, from an alleged adult.

Regards.

Not sure what you mean by "if true".

"George Thomas has not signed his contract. It runs out tomorrow and I’ve told him that he can’t sit and eat with us because he is not paying for his food anymore. He’s a great lad and I’d like him to sign.

Presume there's been some thought into who is going and a reason some players are staying behind. Is there other games planned while they're away for a 'reserve' team?

not sure you are quite there with this one.

Yes he can sign with anyone he likes, but unless they offer us a fee we are happy with it will go to tribunal which could rumble on for a few weeks and end up either in our favour our the other teams. So more of a gamble.

Sooo, Teams (reportedly Leicester, Swansea etc.) can opt to try and offer us a an acceptable fee upfront to stop it going to tribunal. hence the figures that have been bandied around.

Yes as he his out of contract, George gets final say. but Id imagine he will wait and see if offers get made to Cov before making up his mind.

Agents are vultures so id imagine if *insert club here* offer Cov a sum they are happy with it would then open up the possiblity of getting a signing on fee for George and his agent too, especially if there are two clubs competing for his signature.

Anyhow for what its worth I think its not locked in that he will leave. if he can get a decent pay rise and a new contract with Cov he might opt for the guaranteed game time over sitting in a Prems reserves

I wish he'd sign the contract or fuck off now.I want him to stay and all but if he's leaving we need to invest the money into a replacement. Fair enough we have to be nice to him to try and get him to sign but there needs to be a point where we say ok you haven't signed we're moving on. If it's true he's going on tour then if he hasn't signed by then end I'd bin him.

Yes, it's a positive sign that Thomas has gone on tour. But I'm not assuming anything.

It's unlikely Stuart Linnell knows more than we do about the situation, so I wouldn't read anything into tweets etc. Without sounding like the pessimist, realistically he's still gone in my eyes.
