A few observations - Haynes is some player, but a defender? im not so sure. The goalie fills me with no confidence and looks like a hillbilly. Reda is pretty awesome. O'Brien makes some excellent runs. Tudgay offers nothing and Thomas was diabolical.

Thomas, much criticised this season, was not diabolical - had a very decent game, offered a lot of composure and calmness on the ball.

Agreed on Tudgay though, looked unfit and off the pace - perhaps not the player he once was!

We always seem to struggle with defenders defending, yet manage to get forward well. Although Willis is the opposite! Very good CB in the making, but never rated him at RB! Handles most things that come his way.

Reda is good, but can be clumsy, also let's 'Cruyf turns' get the better of him, and goes to make a shit pass!

OBrien is very good at getting forward, and a lot of play goes through him when it doesn't go through Fleck. He made several very good runs into the box today. And if only he was better positioned for his bicycle kick chance early on!

Tudgay, the jury is still out. Liked the fact we signed him, but got to say so far I've been more impressed with McQuoid. And after tonight, Nouble.

Thomas, well he's better than Billy Daniels but that's hardly a compliment.

I think O'Brien's movement is superb, he buzzes around and makes those runs from deep. His pass for the goal to Haynes was quality, he works hard and he was unlucky not to score. After the brilliant pass by Thomas *cough*.

I admit (and did during the game - think the post went through OK) Thomas started well. Counted atleast 3 good balls. But after that, he disappeared

Fantastic night, got alot of love back tonight, the fans really did themselves proud that was a special atmosphere, signing before the game was fantastic, the roar when the players came out was unbeliveable and there were almost constant songs throughout the second half with the stand up if you love city being a big highlight.

On the less positive side I thought we were the better of 2 poor teams and we came very close to throwing it away at the end there, but the important thing was 3 points, a happy return, a friendly and celebratory atmosphere (I think there was only 1 sisu out) with lots of love given to pressley, the big crowd curse bansished. a bit of a shame we didn't get to 30k fans but overall I think we can be really happy about this evening.

Stunning night tonight. 1st win, got that monkey off our back. Next home game we can relax and get back to football. Tonight was massive, all about the return home and the win that we all wanted.
Now hands up all those who had a lump in their throat when team came out.
Emotional night, for me tonight was bigger than the cup final.

Great win, great atmosphere. However tonight again showed that we create literally nothing playing 5-3-2, it must have been a dull game to watch on Sky. Better teams than Gillingham would have taken advantage of the space, time and possession on the ball we afforded them. Oh and as per Conor Thomas was absolutely dogshit, a more ineffective player you won't see in League One. We must play a more attacking system to get the best out of these players.

Great night, and some lovely signs of the way we want to play. Midfield 3 playing some lovely stuff at times, still look dodgy from crosses at the back, but one more man in there helps.

To nick a phrase off Pressley, we would've lost that game last season.

To be honest, the formation is fine, Gillingham had possession but did little with it really. We got forward just as much as we did with 442. I think it's just the fact that we are set up to be more solid people are freaking out.

SKY agree on Haynes: "The player on the pitch having the most impact-we can see what all the fuss has been about".

I thought Pugh would start in that position because he would be less likely to be overawed by the occasion, but Hanyes was up to it in spades and was MoM for me (though O'Brein shaded him close).
