A hero of our times.
Really disappointed there is no thread unless I missed it.
One of the most significant court cases of our times.
Misogyny is not taken seriously.
Such an unbelievable story.

Yeah, I am a little surprised there is no thread, but my missus and I haven't discussed it at all and I think that's because we were too stunned to do so.

It's so outrageous. 😢

Is that the husband who drugged her?

It's fucking disgusting. Are all of the others being convicted too?
Those that they can find, yes but I think they’re claiming that the husband told them she’d consented, which hopefully won’t be taken into account.

It isn’t a defence even if true, consent can’t be given on someone else’s behalf. Frightening to think had he not been arrested for something else none of this would have emerged.

Isn’t that how they got that Manchester date rapist as well? Found the evidence on his phone for something else and some of the victims had no idea until the police contacted.

Absolutely insane.

My sister went on holiday somewhere in forget where, alone and got spiked at the hotel bar, luckily got herself back to her room before it kicked in and had to fight for a new hotel as she suspected it was staff.

Just nightmare material.

I think he got caught because someone woke up half way through, battered him and got arrested...until they looked at the rapist's phone.

Yeah I think that's what I remember from the documentary.

It's so scary that people actually had no idea.

It's so horrifying, aggravated by the fact that there are so many men involved in such a small area (relatively), that it's clearly much more widespread in society than people would like to believe. Domestic abuse and rape is just not talked about enough. When it comes up you hear indignation from some men, but the stats clearly show it's widespread and everyone probably knows an abuser - whether they are aware or not.

A thought experiment.
If the victim had realised what was happening and confronted her husband then fled to the police, would anyone believe her?
My view is No. The police would be reluctant to investigate. If he has time to destroy a lot of evidence she would be nowhere. I think the husband was trying to get her a dementia diagnosis, so, it seems likely she would have ended up in an institution on strong medication to pacify her.
It is also clear none of this would have been found out if the husband hadn't been reported for up skirting women. Doubt UK police would have followed this lead. Relatively minor sexual offences denote a pattern of predation, as we saw with Sarah Everard's murderer.

I thought exactly the same thing.

Also, this one makes the news, but how many other stories do we not know about...
