Agree with this. Been many many times, and always loved it as there is so much to see and do. Used to find some great bands you’ll never hear of in the smaller tents, or Avalon cafe. And so much to do after the music stops too, sadly too old and infirm to go these days. There's loads to do away from the main stages which doesn't help if you're watching on tele of course.
The problem is record companies dont really develop artists anymore, it's get a talent show winner, write them couple of tunes, bang out an album then fuck them off, rinse and repeat.
The pool of ge genuine headline artists is much diminished.
Paul Heatons solo is worth catching on iplayer for some old singalongs
Think it's also a case of a lot of acts that could headline just don't want to do festival shows these days. The number of stadium tours has increased over the years but alongside that the number of tours with elaborate stage and lighting setups that take days to prepare just don't work for doing festivals. The pool of ge genuine headline artists is much diminished.
Just got tickets to see him in December. All Beautiful South and Housemartins stuff. Last saw them on the Quench album tour so looking forward to it. Only £39 per ticket. He makes a point of making it affordable, no tiered pricing depending on block/seat/standing either.
Catching up on Paul Heaton. Who’s the blonde?!certainly not what’s her name Abbott.
Costello, maybe?Catching up on Paul Heaton. Who’s the blonde?!certainly not what’s her name Abbott.
Poignantly I've just turned on the TV to catch LCD soundsystem doing "all my friends"
Used to love Coldplay when they first emerged on the scene and bought their first two albums.
For me, a band that truly sold their souls and now I am a bit embarrassed to say I ever did like them.
And what the hell was that awful thing they did with that K Pop band?
I get people still like them, but my daughter and I and another friend too, all used to like them, but now can't abide them at all.
Yeah.A Rush of Blood to the Head is still a really good album imo, but yeah the weird dance/disco route they've taken since is pretty unbearable to listen to.
I bet they're probably more popular and well known now though globally, especially after doing a song with a K-Pop group
I love Idles and their music just develops and develops with every record. Always pushing themselves to try something new and inventive.Totally agree regarding Coldplay their first two albums were outstanding but surely there’s other bands who could headline?
It’s far too political now for me and wish artists would keep their views to themselves.
I saw idles on jools Holland the other week and thought yee their good !!
I’ll have a look and listenI love Idles and their music just develops and develops with every record. Always pushing themselves to try something new and inventive.
Love their new single, Pop, Pop, Pop.
I watched their Isle of Wight set last week, they were brilliant. The Streets on now

All recycleableSo about 100k unnecessary glowing wristbands for landfill... Well done Coldplay....sanctimonious hypocritical pricks
I just do not understand coldplay.

Used to really like them.People try so hard to hate Coldplay. So many class songs and they’re absolutely incredible live. Come at me you boring bastards
Going to try and catch them on iPlayer. Will catch Idles too. Also, probably, The Last Dinner Party, Mount Kimbie, Kim Gordon, Big Special and definitely, Mary in the Junkyard, as I think Ghost is an amazing song.LCD Soundsystem so good, definitely on my list to see. Thought I'd missed my chance when they broke up. So tight and what a voice.
I don’t know what it is exactly about The Idles, I feel like I should like them but I don’t.I love Idles and their music just develops and develops with every record. Always pushing themselves to try something new and inventive.
Love their new single, Pop, Pop, Pop.
