Distinctly underwhelmed. Blades fans sound like we did when we released Max or Baka “lovely lad”, bit of a worry he’s barely played for years as well. And he’s not exactly young.

Hope we’re going to make an exciting signing this summer and not all average players in their early 30s looking for a last payday. The rumours don’t fill me with confidence though.
Danny Ward hadn't played for years until the Euros. As long as he is a step up from Wilson.

If Moore comes in ,with limited budget keeping wise hope that will be that position with Wilson as back up.

Not to labour a point but Wilson’s Championship stats: Played 30 - Conceded 31 - 10 Clean Sheets
Moore: Played 35 - Conceded 42 - 6 clean sheets

Again, I’ll back him and I hope he comes good. But there’s foundation to my concerns.

My concern is like most signings Badlan usually says ‘we’ve been monitoring him for a long time’

Hard to monitor someone that hasn’t played in bloody years! They watching videos of him playing back in the days of VCR?

Been unconvinced by Badlan for a while. Too many cheap speculative ones that might come off... but don't. Kasta, Hillsner. We just can't afford that.

However Moore does fit with the successful L1 and L2 strategy which was largely abandoned in summer 2020 - good English league players being released by their clubs and picked up for free or next to nothing - see Kelly, MacFadz, Allen

On the negative side being described as a 'good shot stopper' is a very low benchmark indeed (see Burge). It's a bit like a striker being descibed as 'good at kicking the ball towards the goal'...It's the day-job

Where can we pick up one of these good at kicking the ball towards the goal strikers?

Didn't people get annoyed about Marosi saying he was Doncaster's 2nd choice?

Whilst originally he was second choice Marosi had an excellent season prior to his arrival here and played a significant part in helping Doncaster reach the play-offs. He also refused a contract in order to come here.

It was clear he was going to be a significant upgrade on Burge.

Moore has played a handful of games in three seasons and many of the reports coming from Sheffield United fans suggest his level is probably League One.

It's not really the same.

I do find it slightly concerning that we're constantly told that we operate 2 windows ahead of schedule and that we know who we want way before the window opens yet we've entered pre-season having signed no-one and are being linked with a 31 year old keeper who has barely played in 3 years and a 31 year old striker. Doesn't really scream well-prepared.

I think it's slightly harsh to throw Jobello into the mix. Granted his injury history wasn't ideal but he was doing OK up until his ACL injury. He was signed for League One and from his performances he didn't look at all out of place at that level.

You know that's a fair point, as bad as it is to say, I think his injury helped the team massively and was the catalyst for us winning the league. Forced us to drop Hiwula who was badly out of form and a change of formation.

We need to recognise the economic reality .

The average playing budget on the championship is £25m. We will again have one of the lowest budgets, and one of the lowest payers.

Badlan has to take risks. We don’t have a budget for proven players.

the average championship club loses £33m per annum. Sisu are not going to move themselves into that bracket to allow us to compete.

As they rightly shouldn't

I have a feeling we could be confirming one or two today who've been mentioned fairly extensively in recent days
Wouldn't be surprised to see McCallum back at some point later too
Doesn't look so good for Mason, Jobello or Hillsner who I suspect won't be involved with the first team in pre season
Would be fantastic if we got McCallum back. I still feel Mason is a good player but seems he is not in favour.

I notice you don't mention Kastaneer not being involved. Surely there is no way back for him?

Jobello and Dacosta both played in the first team and were regular squad members when fit.

Valid points, The only reason either make the bench isn't down to ability, but the team looks better without both, I've seen better positioning from 10 year olds on a Sunday morning then from Da Costa.

How many of the team that won League One at a canter & the team that stayed up comfortably in The Championship were assembled (on a relative shoestring) by the current recruitment team?

Every team makes relative to their budget cheap speculative signings, there is no exact science to spotting a player (apart from experts like you of course)
