Here's a cashflow conundrum for Dave. What's the bigger cost:
1,000 ST holders ask for their money back because you're flogging first team regulars for sod all and trying to get relegated
Or
Keeping one of those regulars at the club
You make an excellent pointIf SISU's aim is to sell at the top of the business cycle. Then they're going about it in a rather st
If the club sell it's best players.....the adage of selling at the top of the business cycle is going to disappear pretty quickly. Especially if we look like relegation candidates....any prospective buyers are going to realise the £7m a year for being in the Championship is going to look a lot less next season in L1
Yeah thanks that’s really usefulWhat the answer is doesn’t matter. But there needs to be an answer to the question: how do you balance the books at this level.
There are seemingly only two modes out there: investment for the hell of it, investment into young players who are sold for a profit.
They will tell you it’s the latter. In which case what’s the plan for when windows like this one happen and what have they learned for next time? Also how will the club sustain itself in future years if we can’t bring in any more potential?
I totally agree to the fact that we need to improve our cash flow. But to insinuate our CEO is ringing clubs offering our best players is just mental.
It's not naivety - it's just common sense.
The reasons I put above are likely why a club such as Huddersfield might be interested in Godden. Same for Hyam - Blackburn know that we're in a weak position financially with the 3 home postponements/paying to rent Burton for a game so they came back with an apparent lower offer and got their man.
Does that mean I think we're right in what we're doing? No.
Do I agree that we need more money? Yes.
Do I think it's absolutely mental for to think that a CEO is calling clubs to sell our better players? Jesus christ yes. Just the same made up nonsense in peoples heads.
If you're in DBs position, needing more money and you have two options, what do you do?
* 1. Call clubs to offer our best players to plug cash flow issues, knowing that you're going to piss off your manager, 13.5k season ticket holders and a wider section of the fan base who've only recently come back to the club after MR and his teams achievements over the last few years.
* 2. Ask Joy for some cash to cover the loan knowing that we can claim compo from Wasps to retrospectively improve the cash flow.
If people seriously think DB is such a loon that he'd rather sell our best players than ask his boss for more cash, I think I'm done here.
What's more likely?
Who keeps spreading these fucking shit ideas? Ffs stop doing it hey?

Yeah that's logical, let's try and buy a striker from the only team below usOr maybe it's because they're second from bottom early on in the season and want to bring in a striker to salvage their season before it's too late?
Gooden, one of only 3 players to have a goal per game ratio so far and we're a club seemingly in need of cash so it looks like an obvious bout of interest.
Not everything needs to involve BD ringing around FFS...
'
I don't think there is any hope for compensation from Wasps so that is not available

Even for the pitch repair cost?

It's another one where I'd sell him if it meant somebody else coming in to do the same job. For that to work, it needed deals done early, really.I obviously hope this isn't true, and suspect it's just gossip, but what would everyone accept as a fee? I saw £5.5m further up and assumed that was a joke, just interesting to know what people would value a 31 year old Godden at.

Well, at this rate Tavares fans will be delighted!
What if he's done 2 and the answer wasn't good? What next? In fact tbf to the bloke, doing 2 could have resulted in Joy ordering him to do 1!I totally agree to the fact that we need to improve our cash flow. But to insinuate our CEO is ringing clubs offering our best players is just mental.

The way Wasps Holdings are performing financially, I agree that CCFC's chances of recouping the pitch repair costs against offset rent payments seems "hopeful" at best. At this rate CCFC will be a creditor in the administrative process that Wasps Holdings enters. The suggestion is that has been offset by the next rent payments.
However, we still have to consider the possibility of the lease being surrendered. Its seems still no announcement (if they'd got the Finance sorted than I am sure it would be announced) and the clock is really ticking now.
Not with that attitudeYou can't get your money back from a season ticket because a player is sold.
Wasp would have to surrender the lease if they can't refinance? The suggestion is that has been offset by the next rent payments.

In all seriousness, this could be the making of Walker if he gets it right.I don't see Godden going. I doubt we could get much of a fee.
I guess the other problem is we have not shifted Kane or Walker either and seems we are not going to
Check the opening post of this thread.Where has this even come from? Literally can’t see it anywhere.

Depends how much my mortgage was with an impending recession, really. If you were in that position, wouldn't you resign knowing that it would piss so many people off?
I understand it and I get it. And that could well be the case...but if your boss told you, in effect, to make yourself mega-unpopular with the people who you've (in part) helped to get on side over the last few years, you'd say no or go, no?
You make an excellent point
Read the Blackburn article on signing Hyam...

feel like ive heard this a few times...this could be the making of Walker if he gets it right...
Any normal club would have been given 150k to sort the pitch by their owners. Ours aren't interested and so we have to sell a player to fund it. Its an absolute joke of a situationThat end of July we knocked back £2.5M....I wonder what happened in August.?
Postponement of 3 home games costing close to £1m lost revenue.
On top of that a pitch repair costing god knows how many 100s k.
Really dont think we would gave sold Htam had it not been for shambolic pitch situation.
THE PITCH SITUATION HAS FUCKED US PLAIN AND SIMPLE in August any plan went straight out the window.
Compensation from Wasps should include the difference of Hyam fee. Yes I know its not gonna happen but it's a reality of the pitch situation that's caused us to sell at all and sell cheap.
