It’s a game. It’s about building up a stash for his future. Nothing to do with whether he wants to be with us. If someone offered you’d times tor wages for doing nothing different what would you do? Same as Brighton did when they offloaded him. It’s just a commodity not personal. IMOEspecially me, I'd just want shot of him, he obviously doesn't want to play for us

Viktor Gyokeres is considering seeing out his contract at Coventry City and giving the Mark Robins and the Sky Blues fans one more year at the CBS Arena.
That’s according to respected European transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano who claims the player’s future could be decided in the next “key hours and days ahead.”
City owner Doug King has made his stance clear on the matter that the club will hold out for the best possible price – his valuation understood to be north of £20million for the Sweden international who scored 21 Championship goals last season to help fire the club to the play-offs.
The executive chairman has already rejected at least one bid from Sporting Lisbon who are leading the chase for the striker’s signature, while Wolves, Fulham and West Ham are cited by Romano as the other main competitors interested in his services so far this summer.
Gyokeres has said in the Swedish press that he is ready to “try something new” this summer. The 25-year-old, who was speaking while on international duty last week, also said that he thought Coventry ’s asking price was too high.
King, however, insists the player will not dictate any sale fee and has not ruled out making him see out the remainder of his current deal, which runs until the summer of 2024, and an option which he admits would be perceived as being "a bit mad," given that the club would get nothing for him.
But in a new development, Romano claims that Gyokeres and his agent are yet to make a decision about what he wants to do, saying that they’re considering staying put and leaving the club on a free next summer.
Romano tweeted: “Viktor Gyökeres future, key hours/days ahead. Decision has not been made by player and his camp — potential free transfer in 2024 being discussed.
“Coventry owner, asking for huge amount with just 1 year left on contract. Fulham, Wolves, West Ham & Sporting are ready to push.”
It’s certainly an interesting twist to the on-going transfer saga which would spark mixed feelings among the fans. On the one hand many would be delighted to keep the top scorer for another season in the hope that he can fire the Sky Blues to promotion, but a potential £20m plus transfer fee now would allow Robins to significantly strengthen his side in several areas of the pitch."
You can’t say thatSee that would be the case if we weren’t looking like we need the money from the proceeds to build the squad
if Doug decided to fund the rebuild we’d be fine

Yes but wasn’t that because he felt he’d been given the message he wasn’t wanted?I don't know about Dabo but Rose turned down a new contract. The big interview in the CT was quite illuminating

He’s learning he hadn’t seen a game for over a decadeDoug King probably overplayed his hand by sounding off in the media. Just like Ray Ransom did when he openly told Cov fans that Kieran Westwood would never leave for free. Westwood promptly sat out his contract.
Somethings are best left said behind closed doors.
If Gyokeres has decided on a move to Lisbon, then the risk is that the price will drop from this point on.
Yes because that is e a toy the tactic that Vik and his agent are adopting … oh wait …Doug King probably overplayed his hand by sounding off in the media. Just like Ray Ransom did when he openly told Cov fans that Kieran Westwood would never leave for free. Westwood promptly sat out his contract.

We should sell them Gyokeres and then sign this guy.
Hadn’t seen a game for over a decade yet decided he wanted to buy a football club? Bit oddHe’s learning he hadn’t seen a game for over a decade
