Vic Gyokeres will miss loads of chances like he has here. The thing is he creates many of those chances for himself or his teammates thus the number of assists he got.

The thing is i think he needs to be a playmaker who scores rather than a goal scorer who assists the higher up the league he goes.

The higher up the league you go the better i think he will create goals but i think he will score less.

He misses too many chances (even if created by himself) to be a Premier League top scorer

but i think he will be a top player due to his strength and will score 10 plus and create many in his second season in the top flight.

A team buying him as their main striker this season, i think will struggle this season before he gets up to scratch.

He needs to be brought to be improved over a season like the best teams do.

This is my take, it’s the Sporting interest that is luring him. Not saying he wouldn’t of gone to a prem club but I think he might have given another year here with an increased deal.
But the prospect of being number one at a club whose owner is pumping money into attracts him.

Sort of irrelevant really, basically all transfer fees of note will be structured like that
That’s 100% correct I think a number on here think Doug King will turn up at various clubs with a briefcase full of £50 notes.
Most if not all fees are structured over sometimes a number of years and that can include signing on fees.

If its true (big if) then fair play to Doug for hanging on and insisting they match our valuation.

Now can MR have some cash please 🙏

Agreed. Doesn’t look like any Prem clubs have put in a stand out offer so if he’s squeezed an extra million out of SL and as long as we get a really good sell on, then he’s done a decent job

so we should of definitely accepted at 17 million then ;)

*we'll see what happens as this fella has had us on teh verge of accepting teh sporting offer for about 2 weeks now ;)
There were some advocating waiting until much later because PL clubs would be bidding then- if they were that desperate they’d have bid before and now.

You said other clubs would start bidding and we should wait until then didn’t you?

I said we should wait around a week and see

posts are still in this thread grenners

Didn't you also say there is definitive interest from other clubs and that a club will offer more than £20m?

Also your narrative about waiting a week is contradictory as you repeatedly stated in posts either on that day or the day before that the club shouldn't be selling this early in the window.

I said we shouldn't be selling if we think the bid is under our valuation

I know you struggle to read but mate

Surprising, don't you think? You'd think at that price it would be worth a punt for someone in the richest league in the world.

Sporting's head lost by Gyökeres after 'alleged' interference by Benfica in the deal.
Sporting will pay +20M € and a significant % of capital gains from future sales for a player on the verge of ending his contract.

He is off to Sporting and I for one wish him all the best.
We will miss him that’s for sure and that goal he scored against Wigan is burned into my memory now forever but we move on to the next big thing that MR and the team pull out of the magic hat!
In a way I’m glad he is going overseas and he is no longer playing on our doorstep - I will be keeping my eye on Sportings results over the next couple of years now.
Well done ViK you did us proud!

Think at £18million that beats the Robbie Keane fee as a new club record too.
