You’d think with the money we made from playoff finals and also the premiership season ticket prices and increase overall we’ve got from the increase in season tickets we’d have money in the pot to buy someone. Fuck me it’s depressing ey

With it being the close season and no games = no income the monies raised from the playoffs and ST sales go towards the running of the club , surely?

We either sell him now before the season starts or not at all

don’t want us to panic and sell him just before the end of the window for 50% of what we could have got

Keep Vik and Hamer this season, and let them go in June 2024 on frees. If they so wish.
We can throw together a defence with decent signings based on players like Walker, Dabo and Waghorn leaving. A couple of decent loans. O’Hare and Palmer back too.
We’d go up automatically, and cover any losses letting Gus & Vik go on frees and some. Wouldn’t bet on one of them staying on anyway should we go up.

We got into the play offs last year with a traditionally low points total with the players you mentioned bar O’Hare, unless the loans we get are well above average, don’t see how we’d be going up automatically

A few weeks ago I was dreaming of us getting £25m for him and reinvesting half of it in the squad. But since then and because of agents and Viktor's petulance, we will probably have to sell for £7m to £10m, which will be lost on other outgoings.

The club aren't stupid and don't need to have their hand forced to meet your own selfish desire Viktor. We knew you wanted to leave because you didn't want to extend your contract.

The offer in the first week of the transfer window was supposedly €15m so now we will probably have to sell for £7m-£10m because Gyok answered a question directly and his agent is getting Romano to do a tweet? Lets not be daft.

Doug is playing hardball as he should with the amount of clubs interested. The fee will only go up when the premier league teams get seriously involved.

Client journalism at it's finest

Romano has apparently lost some of his contacts and his credibility since appearing to get paid to tweet about certain players to drive up their value (look at his Mudryk tweets). Gyoks agent has probably paid him to try to drive down the value and quicken up the sale.

Seems like he gets less 'EXCLUSIVES' now anyway - usually playing catch up to Ornstein who actually breaks new transfer stories.

If he stays, then it's as much a gamble for Vik as it is for the club from what I've been told. Apparently his salary is lower than a lot of others even at City. If that's true then risking going for nothing next year he could get badly injured, as he'll certainly be targeted every game. At that point his earning potential drops massively yet could get a move and a contract now to set him up for life. This has to be his agent playing with the club for his own end.

In reality the best scenario is we sell him for a decent fee now and reinvest that across the squad. Works for both parties.

I agree and Gyokeres need's to be VERY careful on what he wants to do. Fine, sit out the last 12 months and go for a free. However, if he stays and gets a bad injury (and all players get one eventually) then he could be making a decision that is life changing for him and one that he would be crackers to risk by sitting out the last 12 months.

It works out a high risk strategy and if it was my son i'd be advising against doing such a thing. There is also a moral issue here as well. Without CCFC Gyokeres may never have been given the time and coaching to develop. He should remember this as well and give back to the club an opportunity to be rewarded financially for giving Gyokeres that platform.

Sadly some players don't have that mindset which in my book is the difference between a good honest human being to a greedy self centred reptile.

I still think he will be gone late next week once one club starts the bidding war....

Do we have any indication that this is what he is intending to do? It seems a bit much to be saying such things purely based on conjecture. Also I can't see it is at all likely that he would run hides contract down. As people say it would be totally against his own interests.

We are discussing on a chat site regarding CCFC related issues and that discussion is in relation to a tweet put out last night from someone 'in the know' that it's being suggested that Gyokeres could even run down his last 12 months of his contract.

Hope this helps.

Where did you get those figures from?

You don't sell your house under market value, and then when someone comes to view it and criticises the kitchen set up, proceed to reduce it by a further 50%.

We've got such a weak minded attitude to this transfer it is unreal.

Luckily nobody on this site is negotiating on behalf of the club 😂

King made his stance. He won’t be going on the cheap.

Well in that situation the house of course is worth nothing by September if you don’t sell it
