You are falling into the overall career scenario here G. Yes, I know he played hundreds of times for Everton.

At this stage I was playing football myself so watching City was not possible week in week out, but - geniune question- how good was Carsley for us in the second tier? (Expecting a particular three word answer from you here! ;) )
Carsley was great in the relegation season and it's probably not a complete coincidence that our form fell apart after he'd been sold. Such a short-sighted decision.

Maddison was either 18 or 19 then hardly a fair comparison. Both are 25 and I think at the moment Maddison is the better of the two.
Of course Maddison is the better player now but the question is when they were playing for us. Personally I think Maddison probably still shades it. Certainly not Carsley though!

I would sooner have Hamer than Carsley. Hamer is a far more gifted footballer. He may have played hundreds of top flight games but the standard of player has risen enormously since Carsley time. Would he get into a PL team these days? I don't think so.
The Carsley comparison was ridiculous.

Come on, Phillips is going to Man City for £50m, hes a pretty limited player.

No he's not. He's a very talented and versatile player. I think Pep might know.
He will be on the bench most weeks like Grealish. On a technical level, Rodri, Silva, Gundogan are streets ahead if him. Plus he adds to the English quota they require to meet.

Whilst the standard in the Premier league has improved there's a still a lot of average players in there.

Phillips to me is an average PL player at best, he isnt all that, not good enough for Man City or England, what confuses me most (continuation from my previous post) is that I dont see him fitting a Pep system, he isnt a tippy tappy midfielder who can run forward with the ball, he can defend, Ill give him that, but he isnt a highly skilled player. I’d very much rather Rice, Henderson, Bellingham, JWP, there are more players I can choose.
But yeah I dont get the hype around him he isnt all that

I think we have had bids this week for all three , it’s always been accepted one will go and Hamer unfortunately is the favoured one and I think he probably needs a fresh start and to get away from the area . The hope is we keep it to one
Is he mates with kane?

Why does he feel he needs a fresh start and to get away from the area? Seems an odd comment to make, he's played every game he's been fit, been one of the best players and universally loved. You usually say someone needs a fresh start when they are struggling at a club or under a manager.

My thoughts exactly, Ik its only words but he said that he loves it here, I think he was just playing the game or something trying to please us supporters as Im sure he likes us fans but probably not the area

I'm currently in Samoan Joe's and our £1m Brazilian is in there. He's absolutely loving it

They got married a couple of days ago, so she can't be the mystery girlfriend that Kane diddled.

Whats your definition of big? As long as we’re spending around the fee we got him for and bringing in another I’ll be happy. Anything else is declining the squad.
That’s never going to happen. As we progress as a club our wage bill gets bigger and bigger (over and above revenue increases), so to expect us to sell a player and reinvest all of the fee in an equal fee is unrealistic.

Our model is such that we have to sell a player every year or two, to fund the rest of the squad. I’d expect a significant amount of it to be available for the overall playing budget, however robins wants to spend that

I can’t be the only one who thinks O’Hare won’t have attracted much interest, certainly not on the level Hamer and Gyökeres have - He is nowhere near scoring or assisting enough

I don't think that's what he's saying, he means spend a similar fee as the one it took to sign Hamer, e.g. £1m+, accepting a large portion will be swallowed up elsewhere.
