I think there was one club in for him but they couldn’t afford his wages, which is concerning in itselfHey Todd, I know we spent months on end trying to get you out the club, but nobody was interested so…fancy playing in Hamer’s position for a few weeks?
I like Gus, I genuinely do but he doesn’t play well enough for long enough and his disciplinary record is dog shit and he is inadvertently putting strain on team by missing games.
We can all say it was harsh and a coming together but he needs to wise up and stop giving refs the need to make a decision.
He needs to learn the dark arts of central midfield if this is to improve. I’d also fine him wages. How many straws we on?
I haven't paid much attention but did Robins mention the red card or are we appealing it?
Of course we're not.
Said Hamer "needs to learn" & that his discipline is is "absolutely ridiculous"
You would hope that as a manager it would be something worked on.
Agree to a point but how much can he do?
I agree with Robins that the last couple of games that... "in fairness to him he has been trying to do the right things in terms of working harder to get behind the ball rather than fouling."
I have always said that's been Hamer's biggest weakness & probably what stops him getting a Prem move. Not even just the yellow cards/fouls part of it but how much he exposes the team. Noticeably improved last couple of games though.
But not really sure what a manager can do about the red mist stuff?
"Hey Gus, next time someone tackles you cleanly, try not to aim 3 kicks at their head in retaliation"?
He scored more than one or two goals last season. Ridiculous. Class playerYep and I have hit one or two 180s on a dart board. Haven't done it for years.
I'd rather his wages were spent on two CMs who were more consistent than him. Not a higher peaks but also not as low troughs and disciplinary records that didn't fuck up the small squad we have.
Giving him a bumper contract was a huge mistake in retrospect.
To a degree, I think you have to accept the slight insanity now and again as the price you pay for giving him an edge. If you can take the rest down and minimise that, then at least you're just holding your head in your hands a bit less frequently... but he needs that bite for him to play at full throttle.Agree to a point but how much can he do?

TrueDoesn't really excuse Hamer thrashing his legs around-it was naive at best
Dropping Hamer for any of the reserve CMs would be the definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I didn’t say to drop him. I said I’d fine him.
Apologies you did indeed, I did that internet thing of replying to one person plus a bunch in my head.

Maybe even O’hareCouple of u21 games before our next league game. So could be interesting to see who and how they line up. Could see Palmer, Kane and Kelly at some point as all will need minutes in the legs.
Maybe even O’hare
More likely canals.Next is Birmingham away on Monday, should be a stream
Interesting thought, I'd like to know the stats.Since he's been here, I reckon we've won more games without him in the side.

With Eccles playing well today, and O'hare and Kelly back in full training, not to mention Palmer lookin good, I think Hamer is going to have to battle for his place, which hasn't happened before!
Which may give him a kick up the arse
Still... He's not at the Chris Whyte level.A quick search shows Hamer has a points per game of 1.41 last season.
Higher than Allen (1.34), Sheaf (1.31) and Godden (1.38) for example.
probably the only player that goes on the piss in town every weekend, you're right. He's a brilliant player. Does things the others don't. Good to have a few options in that position.
