Some contradictory comments in that interview. Robins does say “it’s still all to play for. It’s still up in the air but that situation needs resolving quickly”
The comment that Hamer’s very clear on what he wants maybe a reflection on contract terms not necessarily that he’s off. Could be a big public nudge towards King.

Would be a big blow that’s for sure. He links so much of the team together not to mention his work rate without the ball and breaking up play. Could have seen him linking really well with van ewijk and slipping him behind the defence.

Still if he wants to go not much the club can do just hope we have a good replacement in mind.

Yea didn't quite understand it. Saying it was up in the air and down to Gus.

But sounds like Gus has made his view clear, and if he was going to sign it would be done now you would think.

If he stays then we can make a go of it this season. If he leaves then it’s too late to reinvest that kind of money and re-rebuild the squad in time for this season. But another big cash injection (£10 million?) could be huge for us - enough for three or four difference makers in the squad for sure.

If he goes we have to lower our expectations for this season and show patience. I don't care how giddy we get over this signing or that signing, to lose two of the best players in the division in one summer and it's a massive rebuilding project that could take a couple of seasons to bear fruit.

Yes and it sounds like Robins is in two minds how to play this “We could maybe take the decision out of his hands and say ‘you are here for the 12 months,’ and that may be the case still. But look, we have got to be sensible on these things. It will play out but I don’t really want that to play out in the press with me speaking about it. It’s got to play out naturally, really.

“My stance is really clear, I don’t want him to go anywhere but we have to wait “

Seem to remember something similar happened with Gyok at xmas and was persuaded to stay.

This kills any chance of play offs for me
Well that's that then!
Ridiculous, yes he is an incredible player and dragged us into the playoffs with his form at the end of last season. But look at what we have already done recruitment wise.
Luton didn't have Vik or Hamer and got promoted. They just had a very good side across the board with a clear identity. We have that and are building better quality 1-11.

I'd be gutted if he goes and it sounds that he wants to go from Robins quotes, but I have faith that we would spend on a direct replacement as well as other players to make us a more rounded squad.

The club now need to give Hamer a deadline. If he doesn’t sign by that deadline then we have to sell or decide to keep him for the last year and go on a free. We cant let this linger on.
It's the one potential negative hanging over an otherwise positive summer. He needs to stop fucking about and if he won't we take it out of his hands.

It's completely different to Gyokeres, he was still under contract come the summer. Hamer will leave for nothing.

If his mind is OK and Doug is happy to eat the cost I’d keep him TBH. I don’t think you’ll find close for the money. And the difference he’ll make beyond the Vik cash isn’t huge. But those are big ifs.
I think City need to decide wh
Either sign or fuck off .. end of story

No player bigger than the club , getting annoyed by it all now he's had long enough
I guess he finds it difficult to make his mind up. The problem is, the longer it goes on like this, then the fans begin to lose Respect for him. It’s different to Gyok, he moved on pretty quickly / made certain he was on his way, compared to this fiasco. I still think he could do a lot worse than signing another contract.

If we get a decent fee and invest it wisely there’s no reason why he can’t be replaced.
Yea just think it kills play offs for the coming season, even if we invest it well think it will take a year or two for the new team and players to grow and develop into a team which can challenge the play offs.

Much like how the 22/23 team was built over three seasons.

It's starting again isn't it though, even if we replace him well whoever we get is gonna take 1-2 season of development and improving before we are ready to be challenging again and be anywhere near Hamers level

Why? Clubs turn players all the time and can adapt quickly

Maybe a compromise like a 1 year extension with a promise he can leave next year for a reasonable price would be best for both parties at this point.

If he's homesick, hes unlikely to sign. If that was the case we would have to get rid of him straight away

This is my worry. He’s clearly going to miss his kid and it’s possible his form could suffer. Obviously he finished the season strongly so hopefully that wouldn’t be the case.

Personally, if offered less than 10m I would swallow the cost and keep him as he is that good and key to the team.
If over 10m then I would sell as it’s too good for a player with 10 months left.
