There isnt really an incentive for him to sign that deal. In 6 months he can negotiate a free transfer for any amount he likes£30k a week is £1.5M a year. Use £3M of Viks fee for an 2 year extension and stick it in front of him and see how quickly he signs. Gentleman’s agreement if we are nowhere near playoffs / promotion at end of season he can go for a fee like we obviously did with Vik.
That’s not correct from what I’ve been told.Just for reference
He even spoke earlier as though he is finishing his recruitment of 3 more players before he even entertains the idea
Which gives me confidence any replacement would be identified before he leftYeah that’s 3 players in regardless of Gus moving. Then Gus moves and Robins looks at his replacement or a few more.
Maybe he has only just informed Robins what his decision isThis should have been sorted weeks ago, what a complete mess a week before the season starts! Why has it taken so long, if he didn’t want to sign we should have sold him weeks ago and replaced him!!!!!
Exactly so how can you blame the club for thatIt’s too long, at least with vik he made his intentions clear from the start of the window……Hamer has seemingly messed us about. Them twats down the road will be laughing at what’s going on
So we tell him he has a date to decide and he refuses to leave what then? We cant force him to moveBecause he should have had an ultimatum, this is poor preparation

Thats not what Dawkins is saying here? If Gus’s demands aren’t being met then it has to be money does it not?I really don't think money is the issue.
No doubt the fear of incurring your wrath is what's holding him back.I would be incredibly mad at him if he went to a team in our league.
Like i said its on him. If he only just told Robins then what can the club do? You seem to want to blame the club for something i think they literally cant have done anymore to make happenWell it seems like he doesn’t want to sign the contract, so why has it taken this long?
Ok so what happens then.. we receive crappy bids, which has already happened, or we acept a bid and he tells us he isnt moving and will see his contract out and we get nothing. What then?He had 12 months left on his deal, it should have been sorted weeks ago……either sign the new deal or sell and replace! This shouldn’t be happening a week before the season starts
Vik was our best player also.
So you totally ignore the question then.If he doesn’t want to sign the contract it’s clear he’d leave, the timing is a joke
That would make some sense of Robin’s comments. Doesn’t appear to add up that it’s a cash issue considering our summer spending. T’s and C’s it would therefore come down to. Could be exit or duration clauses- or as you say!I do wonder if what Dawkins is saying about "what gus wants has been clear for 2 months" isn't money related, and even if it was laughed off earlier in the thread its something like, training 1 less day so he can go back to the Netherlands every week.
All that we have heard rumoured is that the club have matched the wage demands. It would have to be something strange like that, for some blame from Dawkins to be placed with the club. That would make some sense of Robin’s comments. Yes I didn't think it was as clear as others seem to think. That Robins interview doesn't scream out that Hamers leaving imminently. More a, unless we get what we want, we'll take the decision out of his hands and he'll stay for the season. If he gets a strop on, I'm more than happy to see him in the bomb squad training down the memorial park. I love Hamer, he's been fantastic to watch and a great asset, but no one is bigger than the club.
Where is he saying this?Turner saying we should be looking at £15m for Gus. That’s rules out Holland.
Powered by rapeseed oilSurely we can get a private jet from Coventry from Doug and he can commute?
I wonder if it isn’t a release clause he’s asked for to be inserted into his contract so that if we don’t go up he can leave for a relatively low fee to Holland (Feyenoord) for like £5mil and Doug is refusing.
I don't think Hamer would ever get a strop on with the club, I genuinely believe he loves it here, but is struggling with his family issues. That Robins interview doesn't scream out that Hamers leaving imminently. Do you talk like this IRL? Terrifying stuff.Because he should have had an ultimatum, this is poor preparation
I think you, Me, and the rest of the forum know absolutely nothing, which means ranting like an entitled maniac about what's "acceptable" is a waste of time.So you think this happening a week before the season starts is acceptable?
They can put whatever they like in a contract. Either side.A release wouldn’t be club specific. So anyone could then sign him.

How truth are the reports his wife has ended the marriage.
Do we set a threshold price now whereby we think the reward associated with him helping us towards promotion next season is greater than the fee we'd get for him?
If we end up losing him for nothing next summer, we’ll still need to sell someone else again to replace him and add to the squad elsewhere.Sell him and we've got to spend a very significant amount to replace anyway so you might as well roll the dice imo.

This is what I’m thinking, if he commands a price tag of less than 10m we may just as well keep him and hope he inspires us to promotion, resigned to the fact he leaves for free at the end of the season ‘or, we win the promotion he wins player of the season and can’t wait to sign his new £60.000 p/w contract and lead us into our new era of premier league football.Do we set a threshold price now whereby we think the reward associated with him helping us towards promotion next season is greater than the fee we'd get for him?
