Don't think it's about money with Gus, missing his kids and wants to go back to Holland to be closer.

Trouble is, no team in Holland will pay the asking price.
I've been told before that it is about the money. To be fair, that waa earlier in his Cov career so things might have changed.

I'd be more comfortable if we had both Palmer and O'hare fit, although you still need someone alongside Sheaf to bring the ball out of the back.

Not convinced by this whole he wants to go back to Netherlands thing. There was so much speculation about the contract negotiations, why would there have even been negotiations if he knew he didn't want to sign because he wanted to go home? Something just doesn't seem quite right.

Give Hamer the money he wants and if true his misses will come back to him, not really I don't know anything just making it up.

Like I say it wouldn’t be the end of the world, but equally I can see the sense in a gamble on keeping such an influential player for a season and rolling the dice on £180m.
Can you?
For this club in its current position competing such a highly competitive league I think it would be irresponsible madness.

If he leaves, he leaves. It's not the end of the world and I have faith in MR that we can replace him.

Might not quite be like for like, but if we get a good fee, I'm sure we will be fine.

This current squad compared to last year's squad is already looking stronger.

Rumour is he is offered 22k a week so it's not about the money as I'm sure that's enough for anyone. So probably wants a premier league move.

It was always a possibility. MR will have a list of replacements. The difficulty will be getting the right fee and the right player in.

If Hamer goes then I don’t but this we need 2-3 to replace him. The squad is shaping up nicely and if Hamer goes we just need a like for like replacement. If that means 5m on a player then so be it. Gus should fetch 10-12m. 15m is a bit fanciful but hope I’m wrong

Yup. It's that simple. If we force him to play out his contract, you can't expect the same level of motivation from him.

If he wants to go, we have to let him.

Just try and get the best fee we can.

That’s exactly right. A club like ours cannot afford to miss out on £15 million by letting him leave for free, as well as losing a motivated player.

Robbie Keane demanded to leave. Other players have demanded to leave. It’s disappointing that Hamer wants to go but City need to maximise the income.

Also the being straight about what's going on, getting it done, allowing everyone to move on with the memories.

(And sign replacements with the cash!)
I agree, better to be ruthlessly told a player wants out like Vik rather than this non committal Hamer rubbish. It's souring him a bit as it's really not ideal with a week to go.

One of the many theories is that Hamer wants to stay but is trying to squeeze the best possible deal from the club, with the expectation that he will then leave next summer.

I am hoping that he can see what Robins is doing. I am hoping that Hamer might just want to stay to see what happens this season because Robins is building a squad of genuinely exciting talented players. Hamer might just value the chance to be the key player around which a team is being constructed

Whatever the outcome we have to trust in the coaching and recruitment team who have proved many times over that with player development we have few equals. If Hamer goes maximise the fee and see how it is spent. Its not beyond the realms of fantasy that Cov could splash out another Simms type fee in these circumstances.

Because in the interim he could earn say £20k a week instead of whatever he is currently on

Whereas he could leave for nothing in the summer and command a far higher wage and terms as he’s a free agent

I may have missed it, but who is offering £15 million? I thought we'd only received a £3 million bid so far?

Clubs know the situation we're in and won't be offering that sort of money. Like I say, could have missed it. If he continues to refuse to sign, we may be forced to accept far less than that.

For me, you make a silly offer to Gus to get him to sign a one year extension. If it costs us an extra £1 million in wages so what. If he is still unsettled in Jan, sell him then for a proper fee. The difference in the fee we might receive would eclipse the cost of his uplift in wages.

No one is offering it. This forum has decided it’s what he’s worth based off a tweet a few asks ago

As you say the offers will be far less. The collective view of him on here isn’t it seems shared by the wider football world.

He won’t be signing a new deal - that ship seems to have sailed

Agree, offer Gus a pay uplift and a 1 year extension on his existing contract. Let’s see where we are Xmas - February. This gives us time to get in place a replacement then sell .

Personally I think if don't get a bid over 7m I'd rather keep him for a year and see if he can help us get promoted before he leaves for free

Insane
