Simms is barely even proven at championship level, it's not even comparable to the best player to have ever lived.
It gives an insight into what lengths people think the club should go to in order to retain one player. Rather than wages per week, think of it per year instead. How much is too much?None of us have got access to the information you'd need to decide that, and I don't see why our random guesses matter at all
It's a possibility. However - If we ended up 10th he would leave for free and we wouldn't be as attractive a prospect for people coming in (and we wouldn't have any additional cash to buy). Not saying that's going to happen but it's all a gamble isn't it?While that is factually correct, it isn’t by any means the only potential outcome.
His circumstances, hopes and ambitions could all significantly change in that time, like if he inspired us to a brilliant promotion for instance, would he be able to turn down a new contract ‘and with it the chance to lead this club into the Premier League, I’m sure in those circumstances the club would be happy to meet his ‘much higher’ wage demands.
And if the above happened and he then decided to leave for nothing, you would have to say it worked out well for both club and player.
It is true really. Ellis Simms would surely say to the club that if you're willing to offer £8m for me you need to back that up with a proper salary offer. He's not coming for 10K a week is he?Im not sure that’s true, but should we be signing players with no higher ceiling with our intended model?

Vic’s sale was indeed a game changer and yes it’s bankrolled an overhaul of the team, hopefully it also means that Hamer doesn’t need to be sold to balance the books.Easy to be brave when it’s not your money. Football is awash with clubs in trouble because they were “brave” “very ambitious” “ rolled the dice”….
I’d love Hamer to stay but I’ve really enjoyed Coventry starting to build a decent squad again this window. Vik’s sale has been a game changer. Mismanaging Hamers situation undermines all of that.
No - It's a matter of negotiation. What we’ve offered him. You can’t start letting players demand extra terms. He’s had an offer and that’s it
What’s he done to deserve £25k/week?
And at the moment he’s worth £3.5m not £8m.
From our point of view quite possibly. From his, there were a number of clubs after him and why wouldn't he want his salary to reflect that? What’s he done to deserve £25k/week?

You could justify any salary like that. Personally I wouldn’t hand a player with less than half a season of a Championship football under his belt that kind of money, at least not if it was the most were willing to offer.
Gus is worth more imho, the rest on here can fuck off if they dont like it.What I don't understand is why we were happy to pay Waghorn 30 grand a week but feel that Gus isn't worth the same?!

Then you would think wrong, very wrong.i would think lot of players in the Premier League are not on 25K a week TBQH!
Bloody hell, he really needs to make a decision doesn't he. Fan base has gone into meltdown after what should be seen as an exciting summer.

It's more that you wouldn't expect Hamer to go to a Premier League club and be amongst the highest earners straight away. Also by that logic hamer will attract little premiership interest having no experience at that level

Sometimes, at a certain time, an individual player can be actually priceless to a club…
Apparently the club have rejected bids from premier league clubs, so someone rates him.

Priceless? Everyone has a price no matter how important they are perceived to be.Sometimes, at a certain time, an individual player can be actually priceless to a club…
Waghorn on £30k a week. Your having a laugh. What I don't understand is why we were happy to pay Waghorn 30 grand a week but feel that Gus isn't worth the same?!
Baked beans on toast again tonight? No they can’t every player has a price
It could be argued that the greater part of most transfer fees (not all) is based on a player’s future potential. Also by that logic hamer will attract little premiership interest having no experience at that level

Hutchison! That was Tommy Hutchinson, but they still sold him.
I'll leave the pistol at home then, and bring my flame-thrower. In the unlikely event you catch me with a jammy shot, please respect my wish to be buried in the garden with my faithful hound. Not the current one, mind, he wouldn't appreciate that. His predecessor.Cremation for me, pal. No worm, flesh-eating.
A jam jar will do just fine.
