Yes it's a response anyone would make to something that was never on offer.
I’m not being confrontational here G, but are you saying that Tim was just saving face, and that SISU would actually have paid £5.4 million for ACL and agreed to keep the £14 million loan in place as Wasps have done? They’ve always regarded ACL as a worthless basket case (chucking in a rent strike and the Northampton move to hammer home the point), and have made their offers accordingly.
If I thought that CCFC had been tantalisingly close to buying the Ricoh, and that the Council and/or Higgs had snatched the opportunity away from under our noses, I’d be as angry with them as others on here.
But as far as I can see, in the whole of their tenure SISU have never even got CLOSE to making a viable bid for the stadium business. Even the attempt in 2012 was based on an assumption that they could buy out the loan from the bank for no more than £5 million. The judge said “it is inconceivable that the Bank would have accepted an offer to purchase the debt for £5m” … “SISU had entirely unrealistic expectations” and “this element of SISU’s plan, too, was doomed to fail”.
