Huge uphill task for Mowbray next season? (1 Viewer)

And it's just not about attracting new ST holders, RB, there is no certainty that everyone who had one last season will renew. The prices were very attractive last season and that might not be the case for next season. I'm not even sure if I will renew myself tbh and may revert to picking and choosing. With the perennial lack of success , the marketing department have a tough job selling ST's.

I nearly always say at this time of the year not going to renew and then on the last early bird day rush and do it, but I agree not all will renew as with the age of some of our fans they may have sadly died or become to ill to go, they also need to try and get people who have moved to the city to start going.

Even in the JSB bit?

Nick I am in block 20 and the average age in there must be very old, I don't tend to hand around the jsb section as my boys don't go as one isn't interested and the other one is too little.

You probably think thats a clever remark but he's right on the ageing fanbase. No point burying your head in the sand and ultimately the only people who can address that are the powers that be. Instead of being a smart arse why dont you hold them accountable for once with the same vigure you do wasps, ccc, higgs,ct etc.

No, it isn't a clever remark is it? It was asking if he has been there or sits in there to be able to judge how many kids go? It is if somebody sits in block 16 they aren't going to see many kids there. Compared to somebody in block 23 or 24. Most of the kids will be in the JSB area as it is free for a season ticket there?

Not too sure how it is being a smart arse? Nice attempt at faux rage though.

People go on about the ageing fanbase, but the queue around the block for the Christmas party on a working day (which was a silly idea) shows there are still plenty of kids. The threads about that got ignored though. There should also be more events like that.

It was a simple question, nothing smart about it. You seem to have taken offence to it though for some reason.

Be interesting to know the average age of our fans compared to other clubs. I sit all around the ground not being a season ticket holder and to my observations I think that you can say without doubt that the average age of our fan base is going up. Sat in the family zone on a couple of occassions now and all I can say is dissapointingly thread bare on numbers when compared to most other area's of the ground. So yet another indication that the average age of our fan base is increasing.

But then I'd guess there were double the amount of kids at the Christmas party compared to last year. Isn't a very good figure to use as it was on a working day afternoon so would probably be even more if it was a weekend / bank holiday.

Don't you pretty much only go to night games? (not having a dig, just that it could have something to do with it as a lot of kids don't tend to if it's a school night).

There is also the general kids thing (not just CCFC) where kids are stuck in front of a PS4 or Sky Sports and are only interested in Messi or Ronaldo.

I know my age is definitely increasing.

The fan base is ageing I put the same sort of thing on here last week, the only way the club can get young fans in there is success which means investment in the team and although I don't really understand Ffp I think anything the owners put in can't be a debt and has to be a gift and that isn't the way they work.

I would like an explanation from Anderson how the club got the figures so wrong last year as they were around 25% out do they need a new abacus?

Bang on mate. I said weeks ago how long before they say they made another mistake and that it should be 18k.

I think this is no different to other clubs, most premier league clubs price out young families in going apart from some minorities.

As for next season, I am confident that Mogga will attract decent players to the club who want to get promoted. Lets hope its less reliant on loanees.

Does make me laugh how TM and MV were classed as 'geniuses' in the marketplace last season now there is a completely difference story, what a difference a year makes!

Yep massively agree with Nick on his last point, and in general here really.
Kids are being brought up to be armchair supporters, they don't need to be involved in football or leave there homes to enjoy it. They can gladly sit on their sofa at home, with crisps and chocolate, watching the best players in the world. That is a problem for all clubs outside of the premier league.
Also part of the explanation for the increase in levels of obesity-but that's another discussion...

Unfortunately kids are different these days, if it's not a ps4, Xbox or iPad then there not really that interested. My son is the only one in his class and football team that actually goes to watch football. Not many more actually watch a game on tv. So clubs really need to look at the next generation all over.
Luckily my son loves to go to cov games home and away, loves wearing his kits and coat to school. He even has the ccfc shirt painting on his wall.
How many dads on here take there sons or daughters because they ask to/want to go? How many of them will then start to go with there mates when 15/16 or drop away?

That's another thing, people actually taking their kids. They have to get into it somehow.

A bloke I know had never took his lad, his lad only saw football on Sky. He went to a few games and is now hooked on it and loves it.

It's all well and good people whinging about the kids, but they have to get their kids down there rather than just expect the kid to put down the controller and ask to go!

Before anybody moans about the kids etc, get their kid signed up as a JSB, get to the parties, events before games, meet sky blue sam. My daughter loves the excitement of getting a "free gift" and going to collect it, it was a £3 money box but she was well happy! She got a Christmas card off the players, birthday ones off sky blue sam!

We as parents are key to the next generation of fans more than the club. We're the ones who can put the "bug" into them. Take them, feed them with as much of the positives about the club. Father son time at the football. The buzz my lad wakes up with on a Saturday morning is a great feeling to share with him. My mrs hates Saturday's now, but me and the boy love them.
Look at Portsmouth, plummeted down the leagues but the fan base young and old is still there and travel well. Just like we can and have done this season.
As long as the club keep the price reasonable to take the kids do it, or just let them admire messi or Ronaldo.

Exactly, it is as if some people want the club to come and pick them up in a limo, star players waiting for them at the game with personal escorts to their seats, free haribo all game, free bottomless drink, then a limo home.

£25 a year gets my daughter a season ticket, invites to parties, free gift, christmas card, a certificate she has on the fridge she is proud of. Not too sure what the grumble is.

On another note, 3 city players at a school colouring in with the kids today.. Good for the kids, won't get noticed. ;)

I am sure it will by the kids and they will tell their parents....and that is the point isn't it? It's not an instant think but more a drip drip thing. But the kids will be more impressed by the more successful the team is.
