Thomas a massive loss, not that bothered about the other two based on their recent form, albeit leaves us quite short.

Lati's best position is right sided centre back so that's something.

Agree with this. Torp and EMC are good players but I would have had both on the bench tonight.

CB cover is a worry. I would probably pick Lati, but I don't really know why.

Torp I can see but the other two doesn’t make sense to me. EMC was taken off as he had ran out of energy and looked fine coming off the pitch.

Thomas was absolutely fine last game. Would have to be some ridiculous bad luck
Celebrations in 94th mins?
I always wince for the players (whilst obviously being ecstatic myself!) when I see the pile- ons etc....

It's our first choice XI except for Dovin and Thomas. If we can't get a couple of results without them, we don't deserve a crack at promotion. Simms needs to step up a bit. Bench players need to be on it.

Your idea of our best choice 11 maybe, nothing to suggest Lampard feels the same way about a supposed strongest 11.

Basically the midfield and the attack could work out ok as long as Sheaf and Simms step up and perform in a way they are capable of but haven't really so far this season... over to them i suppose. As for the defence, lets just hope Saddles talking bollocks on that one.

The EMC ‘injury’ is making less sense to me as it goes on

He ran across to celebrate the Paterson winner last week, it quite clearly wasn’t done in game so what the hell have they been up to in training

Binks is also shite, Thomas be the biggest miss of the lot

I think tonight depends entirely on how quickly we can get the first goal. Against pompey, we get the pen for hand ball or Rudonis header goes in, it's a completely different game. The longer the kept the clean sheet the bigger their belief. We get the pen 10mins in and score we walk away 2 or 3-0 easily. Same tonight, the longer we don't score the bigger belief Hull get, the more body on the line defending they do. We score early doors and they have to come out and play and score. We should find gaps. I'm saying 3-0 tonight.

Thomas is the biggest loss in this.
Non match practiced centre-back and a fragile Collins - away from home - makes sad reading.

When Binks came in at Derby, the back four (particularly him and Bidwell) were all over the shop.
At Sheffield United too i think we suffered from not having the Thomas/Kitching duo. As for Lati, I don't even know if i'm over the piss weak belly flop followed by the late goal at Norwich away.

EMC isn't a massive blow to be honest as long as Wright can stay injury free in the final run in.

Thomas being out is an issue. Lati is far too pedestrian and slow to operate in a back four.

Against a forward that is remotely athletic he'll be exposed.

The bench depth is sufficient even if EMC and Bobby Thomas are out. Assuming Wright plays left wing, Simms and Lati start. I don't think we will play 3 at the back because that leaves the bench light on cover if one of the CBs gets an injury.

Collins
MVE, Lati, Kitch, DaSilva
Sheaf, Grimes, Rudoni
Saka, Simms, Wright

Bench.. Binks, Wilson, Pato, Bassette, Raphael, Bidwell, Allen, Sandiford, another academy player.

Nemanja Matic comes to mind. Knee sliding after (i think it was) the league cup?

There's also a "city unseen" video this season of MVE getting clattered in the back of the head in a celebration huddle. Also MVE almost faceplanting the advertisements celebrating a Saka goal. Just MVE, we should ban MVE from celebrating for fear of injury

EMC hasn't looked right since he came back from injury, so wondering whether there is a reoccurrence or some underlying niggle

Agree, hes had this toe issue, wonder if thats just got to point of no return now.

The Thomas one is odd, must have done it training after Pompey game, as he seemed ok. Hoping this is fake news!

I think at this point EMC is clearly first choice, no?

GK and CB are two positions that take the biggest dive in quality when replaced for us.

Hull has a 70% obesity rate and I'm reading people talking about him being fat?

He may be first choice, but the dive in quality from moving Haji to the left and Simms up top is marginal at best

Mad take! We need depth at this time of the season
