It would be better to field team this coming season, SISU would have something to consider and after all, you have spent an awful long time "waiting to see what happens next" and that has only resulted in disappointment after disappointment.
The idea is that at worse, you have your own club again just like Wimbledon. At best, CCFC returns without SISU whilst it's still at a higher league level, then you could fold the phoenix (having served it's purpose) and incorporate "1883" or whatever into the offcial CCFC name, what had happened would be a good phase in your history.
At any rate, anyone wanting to set up a phoenix club is now too late for 2013-14, so it gives plenty of time to see what happens over the next few months, to see if we actually do go to Northampton, and gauge what the mood of the fans is after a few months, what the results are like, how the ground share is going, what the crowds are like etc. We shall also see if SISU are serious about a new stadium.
By the time we get to January/February we will have a clearer view as to whether it is the right thing to set up a phoenix club, with enough time to set it up for 2014-15.
You would change the name of the club Coventry City FC that has been our name since 1898 if they returned?
Yep, well said. Hard to argue against that statement I would have thought.
Nuneaton Town still see themselves as Nuneaton Borough despite the name change.
But nuneaton boro were liquidated and no longer existed , we're talking about a breakaway a Phoenix club.
At the moment ccfc still exist.
st andrews-just graduated last week!
Yes, but for how much longer? If we are liquidated this time next year and then start planning we lose another year and cannot start up until 2015/16. Plus, the fact a high number of people "signing up" to such a club this year before it is even started could exert enough pressure on SISU to at least re-enter discussions with ACL.
Feck me, pull yourself together man. If its a breakaway because people think its a lost cause can you stop calling it Phoenix, it doesn't deserve to be called Phoenix.
Saltaire, love your enthusiasm. Why aren't you working in the PR dept at our club? No hang on they'd wonder what hit them, bright imaginative ideas, some will work, some won't, but ideas all the same. They're not used to that.
This Phoenix B team sounds good to me (anything other than Sixfields sounds good) - I can't help feeling the likes of Coventry United or Coventry Sphinx would welcome being involved. The grounds are there. Some terracing and some seats could be installed quickly. If we work on it now, or when/if we do kick off in Northampton (the die will be cast then & we'll know where we are) we'll be ready to go August 2014. Three or four thousand fans at that level, quick promotions, just think of the fun, away from all this misery. The rest of the fans will soon want to be on board in that kind of atmosphere. & then a return to the Ricoh, use the smaller ground for the Phoenix/B side & even develop a community base around it. Possibilities are limitless.
Course. we'd have to make you Honorary Life President Saltaire!
Why are you so vociferously arguing against this idea?
No one is saying you have to be part of it. No one is demanding that you don't make your own decisions.
So you don't like the idea? Fine, then you continue to support a club that is owned by what I and many others consider to be an immoral, lying, evil hedge fund and that will not be playing in the town for which it is named. Not one person on here, as far as I have read, has even intimated that you do not have the right to do as you see fit. So you go ahead and do what you think is right for you.
But please stop the arguments against the Phoenix club. You don't think it is right? You don't want to be involved? Fine! Then just don't be involved, but if you don't want to be a part of it, please stop your incessant arguments against it.
Why don't you like people arguing against it, how many times will you be popping along to cheer on a "new"'club.
It's a distraction we can do without. The club while still being funded means it can one day return even if it ever goes.
So I assume of you were a Brighton fan you'd have given up on them as well would you?

Brighton's ground was sold by the owners and no longer available for the club. They had no choice.
Are you saying I'm not allowed to have an opinion or argue against the Phoenix club? If you want to give up on 130 years of history good for you, for the Ccfc is still worth fighting for.

The silly vendetta continues!
As always, you bring up arguments that have nothing whatsoever to do with our situation, failing to state what the actual situation is and why Brighton was a totally different scenario that has zero bearing on our postition. Again you, Mr. Superfan, intimate that as I live in Switzerland I may have difficulty "popping along to cheer on a new club, which is a cheap shot and a very stupid comment. I am not even going to bother going into the morality of this situation as morals are completely lost on you as long as you can sit in your seat at 3pm on Saturday. I hope you enjoy your new seat in Nothhampton.
I will restrain myself and just say that you are entitled to your opinions.
The Swiss are hardly known for the warrior spirit are they?

Swiss says once the team moved out of its city its no longer part of that city and now should not be supported.
Your comment to Stu was outrageous basically saying he was not allowed to express his concerns. He i believe is a season ticket holder like myself and his arguments I agree with 100%. Interesting.

I am saying that if you are against the idea, then you will not want to be involved should it go ahead in whatever form. If you so clearly do not want anything to do with it, why argue so much about it? Just let those that do want to do it get on with it while you go to watch the football that you have opted for. What is your problem, and why argue so vociferously?
You are obviously very much against the idea, which as I stated is your right, but just because you are against it does not mean that others do not have an equal right to go ahead and do it. If you see it as competition, fine. I don't see it as competition, I see it as taking our club back from the immoral liars that have stolen it from us.

I assume then that if this club is formed you and your ilk will leave this forum and discuss all things Pheonix elsewhere?
But it won't be ccfc, it will be a brand new club. Ccfc would still exist and still have the possibility to be brought back to its rightful home.
I'm not the only one in this thread who has expressed concerns, whilst ccfc is still in existence.
