I can't say I know a great deal about division 4 yet, but I'm sure they do have experienced goalkeepersIf you're an experienced goalkeeper , why would you come and play for a 4th Div side !!!
Especially for a club that DOESN'T pay decent wages for quality player's . :wacky:
He's diabolical. He's set the bar so low people give him adulation for even catching a ball.

Is that why there playing in Div 4 ,I can't say I know a great deal about division 4 yet, but I'm sure they do have experienced goalkeepers
He bogged off elsewhere to get first team football, and made a career for himself on the back of first team football.Ogrizovic spent many years as a number two at Liverpool.
They also played in good reserve sides against some outstanding players. He bogged off elsewhere to get first team football, and made a career for himself on the back of first team football.
You suggesting if Burge goes to Mansfield he'll get himself a move to Derby in a couple of years?
Is he worth more than that?If he will stay for £500 a week.
Is that why there playing in Div 4 ,
It's not how old or young you are, it's how GOOD you are !!! :emoji_scream:

No I'm not. Im suggesting Burge is rubbish.
So you're suggesting he's the same level as Oggy?No I'm not. Im suggesting Burge is rubbish.
So you're suggesting he's the same level as Oggy?
Not being mischievous G, but are there one or two keepers out there who you think we should go after (who we could get)?
So why has he been frozen out of a team that is worse then ours? There is a few out of contract this summer, one being Alex Cisak at Leyton Orient, age 27. Been frozen out the team since January.
6'3" so big enough to deal with the long balls and crosses. Been around a while and experienced at this level.
So why has he been frozen out of a team that is worse then ours?
It's alright catching crosses but how many goals are scored that way.
How good is he at shot stopping.
Sorry but never heard of him...
Tend to agree. He improved towards the end of the season. Everyone says you need an experienced keeper at x level, but we're now in league two, when does it become acceptable to play a keeper who'll be 24.5 years old in august who has 70-80 first team games experience in league one? There comes a time when you just have to play him or completely release him if you don't think hes good enough. Robins thinks hes good enough, and I'd bet he'll keep RCC and spend money elsewhere, preferable on helping us score more than 37 goals in 46 games. What's the point of keeping an inexperienced keeper as reserve?
They'll never become an experienced keeper, if that's the case...
And there is the problem. He is OK.That is the point.. he's ok and any money should be spent on a goalscorer rather than someone to replace Bürge who is at least good enough for league 2. without goals we're going nowhere...
Most of us have seen him more than once.......If people were watching Burge for the first time, as I did in the final, they would no doubt think that he was a very decent keeper. Am I not alone in thinking that if it was not for his crucial saves, we would have lost that final. I am pleased we are keeping him, and with a solid back four he will improve.
Didn't we say Burge was good enough last season and look where we finished?
Keep whoever is best out of Burge or RCC - but as a number 2.
But I would think both would want away and to be first choice somewhere else.
What to pick the ball out of the net, sounds like easy money to meAre footballers this far down the divisions seriously paid as little as that? I wouldn't accept that.

Yes, but he's played plenty of other games for us and can't be judged on one.
He has got better under Robins and his kicking out of play has gone down but I still don't feel that confident when it comes to commanding the area and taking the ball off strikers heads. He is too static on his goal line and doesn't know when to come out to close a player down or stay on his line so he is often caught halfway.
Just like Oggy, regularly did that. Watch the 87 cup final and see how many times he cocked up. He was the master at coming for the ball, then stopping and being stranded. People seem to forget the failings of "legends". Same as Murphy is seen as the sort of keeper we need. He flapped lots of times, and of course blamed the defence for his errors.
We are in League 2, we won't get the perfect keeper, or other players for that matter. Cut your cloth and all that...
And there is the problem. He is OK.
Yes he has finally improved a bit. But don't look at a game at Wembley as a pointer. That was a large pitch with space. It was against a side that wanted to play football. Nothing like what we are going to be up against next season.
I am now happy with his shot stopping. But is anyone happy with his handling? He is going to be bombarded with high balls most games.
Yes we need to find some goalscorers as a top priority. But we also need to be strong in defence. Our midfield is going to be bypassed by the long ball. It will be as though we are playing against sides using the formation 7-0-3. It won't be pretty.
You're right about Oggy. Watch the 2 goals Sutton United scored, both from crosses where he seemed to hesitate about whether to go and claim it or not. Burge would be vilified for that (including from me), but Oggy wasn't at the time. That's the Internet for you!
Oggy came in for some fearsome abuse. On a phone in after a game he was pilloried and the abuse was actively encouraged by linnell
It ended with his wife phoning in complementing linnell for reducing her son to tears.
Yes he did improve throughout the season. If Burge's parents were Fisher and Seppala ,he would hardly be more unpopular to some fans. And yet just over 12 months ago, most fans were singing the praise of Mowbray, saying how good it was to get a 'proper' manager in at last with huge experience, Yet even after over a year in the job, he made no obvious attempt to replace Burge, even though he had no 'buyer' loyalty to Burge. Lots of other players were discarded but not Burge.I thought Burge improved markedly during the year. He is a good shotstopper. Was it only Oldham who score less than us this year - there was the problem, combined with a bang average defence and midfield for the first 3/4 of the season, combined with a large mix of poor management during that period. Apart from that - not bad.
