If it is St Andrews (2 Viewers)

I'm not sure why you've quoted me to make that reply. From what I can see, nobody is calling for the move or saying it's good sense.

To be fair......it's not our ground, it's ACLs...we just rent in.

But it's in Coventry and was built to be the home of Coventry City FC. St. Andrews is in Birmingham and is the home of Birmingham City FC. If SISU had taken what was a miles better offer than the existing deal, they would have saved themselves a lot of money and a lot of bother.

Some ?? You mean half a dozen people who long ago nailed their colours to SISU's poisonous mast !!

I wonder if they have changed their minds.

The problem is in a negotiation if only one side does all the negotiating and the other gives nothing.

It was only going to go one way.

All this talk of a ground share next season presupposes that there is a club within reasonable distance who would be prepared to do business with people who have defaulted on the rent at their own ground. If I was chairman of such a club the only way I would do business with SISU is by demanding that the agreed rent is paid up front in cash, otherwise no deal. I hope that these clubs show a sense of solidarity and refuse to deal with SISU. The fewer options SISU have the quicker they will be gone.

True. Yet, ACL tell us they don't need the Club. I wonder if the casino, the buses, the taxis and the "local economy" feel the same?

For x number of yrs on every other Saturday people have travelled into Coventry to watch the football, in doing so have spent money in the local economy, decent example would be the casino, taxis, buses, shops extra who live off football fans visiting on a Saturday wouldn't any more if the club leaves! There's a bigger picture than just the council vs sisu!

Pretty darn certain that a Mayfair-based Hedge Fund don't care about those things..

That's Ashdown's way unfortunately. Abuses anyone who doesn't see it his way.

Forced on Voice of Reason, who I'm guessing has little influence over the decision and so shouldn't be called pathetic and selfish.

I'm pretty darn certain that neither side do. In fact you can forget the "pretty" part. All either side is interested in is "£".

Surely it's in other clubs' interests to show a sense of solidarity for lower rents?

Anyway, surely this is all academic? Didn't Bob Ainsworth "sort it all out" and say that all the Club was in administration? If true, it's only a matter of waiting for Hoff, JE and PH4.

Any company part-owned by the City's council has more of a stake in the local economy than a Hedge Fund.

They are banging on the administrators door and getting no answer. Bob and the FA cant sell the club to them Mr Appleton can.

What's he said about the golden share and the potential that the club is up for sale in the 5 weeks he has been reviewing the paperwork?

Totally agree with the second point, not so convinced about the first.

None thankfully. I wouldn't be happy to see huge cuts in services one minute and then £14M given to a so-called "Community Asset" the next. Maton was very vague and slippery last week when asked where the money actually came from.

How much tax do you pay to cc council?

Come on. So are you happy then with £14M of YOUR money being given to a Joint Venture Company?

And anyway, who says we're playing at St Andrew's next season? A bloke on a forum. Must be true.

Not as slippery as your hedgefund mates from 90 miles away.

Brighton's ground was sold by their owners for retail development and was thus unavailable. Our ground will always be there and it's total fecking lunacy not to use it.

Our ground has got loads of houses built on it now, there's some place the council rent to us though wouldn't say it was "our" ground.

If it stops the hedgefund getting their filthy hands on the ricoh then yes. I want the club to own lot,but not under sisu. Surely you can see why?

Homelessness, crime and poverty increases but that's fine because the politicians still have the Ricoh.

Ive changed my mind I am now pro Sisu give the Ricoh to Sisu as soon as you can because using your argument homelessness, crime and poverty will all decrease I just cant wait this is brilliant why didnt I think of this? To make it even better the council can carry on paying the mortgage write off the rent owed fuck me we'll have full employment in no time with the added benefit of CCFC back in the premiership and playing in the champions league with no debt but a surplus in the bank I love Joy and now I understand why you do. Im so sorry I had doubts but you you were so steadfast in your support of her and her friends I am trully humbled. To think that I was blinded by those lying devious money grabbing bastards in the council and the charity but you,you could see through all that thank you from the bottom of my heart

Hmmm, we sold that one for BR to pocket some bonuses. The Ricoh has been where we play since 2005, and rent free since April 2012. I wonder if Tim bought ACL an anniversary gift?

I believe you are deliberately missing the point.

By making cuts to bail out the Ricoh (if true), yes the Higgs/ACL benefit, however currently the following local charities are losing out:

The Salvation Army
Cyrenians
Age
The Recovery Partnership
The Swanswell Trust
YPDA
YMCA
Coventry Foyer
Open Hands

Will all have to work harder to provide the same service with less resources and support. That's just a few.

Also, to clarify, again - I believe no side in this is not to blame. The sooner SISU leave the better, but equally, the sooner we are rid of ACL the better. I cannot fathom why this bail out has not stirred more anger from the people of Coventry. Its completely unethical and immoral.

If it's a choice between the people of Coventry suffering or a hedge fund owning a stadium, I'd go for the people every time.

The interest paid back by ACL will deliver a profit to be reinvested?

It's the timing of it, though. CCC are already being choked by central government. They're telling near enough every service in the city that they have to curb spending as the city simply cannot afford it. Fuinding for these services are tight enough as it is. Had it been at a time where funding wasn't so tight, had they been less vague with how they were subsidising the £14m, I'd feel different, but from what I can see is, along with the rest of the country, Coventry's vulnerable are being sacrificed for the sake of a football stadium and conference facility.

All the homelessness services are going to tender in March and the criteria has changed from 60%quality 40%price to 20%quality 80%price. Meaning that those organisations, those cheaper organisations who barely provide a service for the socially margainalised will step in and offer bargain basement support from underqualified simpletons.

I suppose the council didn't want to risk the redevelopment of North Coventry through letting control of ACL fall to a third party other than the bank. Ultimately WS there just isn't enough money round to cover all bases-and had ACL gone under the money lost would be lost for good.

And some people think the council is screwing us as CCFC fans. This loan has come at a great cost to the people of Coventry. Maybe it was spare money but it could have protected front line services.

Torch,
You deliberately muddy the waters again with this false claim and I am sick and tired of this being misused and misquoted.
If OSB can be bothered to tell the FACTS yet again concerning this issue, then please do. I am sick of hearing this deliberate obfuscation from you and others.

Sure, and it was a loan, you know those things banks do to make a return on money.

The money is being paid back.

The have other income streams. I bet there are 70 charities out there all mirroring each other in their altruistic aims. Why should they all rely on extra revenue from the taxpayer?
