If the players...... (2 Viewers)

If they now start to turn up and perform, how would you feel? Because that would indicate that something was wrong in their relationship with Robins or that they weren't happy with his management.

Would it mean DK got the call right? ie: No one man is bigger than the club and that the change was needed to guide these talented, expensive players in a different way.

or

The players are all bastards, should all be hounded out the club and we start from scratch again.

It’s going to be interesting and hopefully instructive to see what happens. Annoyingly busy and won’t be able to watch or follow.

Would mean the players are pricks but I'd be happy with the wins

It would be great if we started winning football matches, that's what we all want to see.

But to he honest, I think we need another transfer window at least, to add some creative quality. We've spent a lot of money on very average players, who arnt going to get us a top 6 finish.

i'd be happy

players also usually increase performance under new managers as they do want to keep their jobs etc

Just listened to “That Cov Pod” and whilst I'm gutted I'm also concerned the fans are being stoked up by various people. We have to move on FFS. Its happened. The good times came when the fans were together and positive.

Who says they've not been turning up? Wednesday was a shit show, but the few games before that were ok, not just the results but the performances too. Perhaps it was taking a while to get the new messages across, which is why I maintain Mark would've turned it around again like he did every season. I fully expect them to play well, but it will be on spite of the decision and not because of it.

This questions sums up how ridiculous some of the reaction has been to the sacking.

You're asking a forum of fans how they'd feel if the team started performing well?

I'm being provocative. There are people out there that would be annoyed with the players.

You can't say that with 100% conviction.

There is a very good chance they will start performing because of the decision made. And that will show, if it happens, that DK got the call right.

You want ridiculous reactions, go read Facebook. Hundreds of people saying stuff like boycott games, singing silly songs about DK for 90 mins. Booing players etc. It's gone bonkers.

Thats a bit of an obvious answer really. Most of us have been around long enough to see multiple managers at the football club and countless players come and go. The ongoing status and longevity of the club is paramount and an upturn in performance and results will soon override personnel change.

in this thread people pretend they think asking if there’s a sharp change in performance after a manager leaves is the same as generally winning games.

They generally over a period of time go hand in hand.

Like over a period of time, our performances have been shite and we haven't won many games.

The timing is fekkin awful too.

A manager who's never lost in 8 games as manager against Sunderland sacked 2 days before with a promoted backroom staff member replacement. Surely he could've waited for the international break, it just makes no sense.

I can say it 100% if I believe they are already performing.

Of course there are people trying to compete with the outrage.

I agree. The team turned up against Luton and Middlesbrough and I didn't see any evidence that they weren't playing for the manager in either of those games.

Wednesday night was poor yes, but it wasn't for a lack of trying. The tactics weren't working (which is down to the manager) and once we made the changes, it looked a lot more promising

Regrettably another instance in what was an ever-growing list of Robins not making an early/earlier call to change formation/tactics.

I don't really understand the notion that the players didn't turn up.

They're professionals giving the best they can on the day.

Nearly every game this season has been tight and fine margins. We are 4th in the xg table so naturally results will turn over time. You can't put that down to the players "turning up" what does that even mean.

If there was s negative cloud hanging over the manager I could understand that impacting players motivation but that didn't seem the case at all.

I think there was an incident a couple of seasons ago where supporters booed the team for clearly putting more effort in for a new manager

Because you give the same effort every day in your job?

We have eyes, we can use Josh Eccles as a barometer of effort. We’ve seen these players when they try hard

I’m not so sure. Every game we’ve lost I’ve thought the opposition worked harder, were quicker to respond to second balls etc. Doesn’t mean the players weren’t trying but I feel we’ve consistently lacked a bit of spark.

Just to expand on this every throw in Wednesday nobody made an effort to find space. Every time the CBs tried to play the ball out nobody except Eccles looked for it. Now part of that was Derby set up to block passing lanes but there was little effort to work around that.

Not saying there was no effort, the players went on to try and get something from the game but there was a lack of desire and fight. As Oggy said it was lethargic.

No but you give the best account of yourself on the day, that's how you reach the level they reach. If you're relatively successful in life it's not a fluke.

I think the effort thing is a lazy argument. Aside from the Leeds game where they looked lost, there's been nothing between two teams. We haven't even lost to any quality, mostly deflection or careless mistakes at the back.

I think that's more confidence and personality to get on the ball when the chips are down.

Look at Haji he had a bad game and there was the usual groaning so his head went down.

You seem quite upset for someone who called for Robins to go after the defeat.

I didn’t though. I posted mid game tongue in cheek that I was robins out now.

Is there a reading comprehension test you have to fail to be a mod?
