No chance are signing Sorba and defo not for 5m. We paid an inflated amount for Kitching as it was at the end of the window and we were desperate but it defo wasn’t 4.5m, more like 3m at maxSo have transfer fees just shot up recently or have we given up on the Sheaf/Vik/Hamer style signings at around £1m? Maybe my scale is just well off. Just feels now we’re paying loads for gambles whereas before we were paying peanuts for first teamers.
Gus had some of the best stats in Europe. Sheaf in L1. Vik while he’d had a poor year was the result of Brightons scouting and had a good history before them. Now we’re going after players relegated teams think are a bit shit for twice the price.
£4.5m for Kitching. Probably bollocks but the rumoured £5m for Sorba. These seem like insane fees to me. But maybe I’m out of touch.
And presumably scouts spend most of their time watching other teams' players in any caseJohnson only did 6 months at Wimbledon & joined just as Rudoni was leaving.
Standard when the writing is on the wall about a player going. I think he's looked decent every time I've seen him.None of the replies are particularly glowing
Yeah agree. Was brilliant when we played them away this seasonStandard when the writing is on the wall about a player going. I think he's looked decent every time I've seen him.
Poor blokeHe was in Florida 21 hours ago
Nope, not now, he'll always be 5' 2" and that's far too small for a full back

Six foot five full backs would be differentWhere did this idea full backs have to be six foot five come from?
Dasilva is taller than Roberto Carlos. And before people start no I’m not saying he’s better or as good as.
Converted centre back due to no realistic alternatives
Need some signing.
Fullback, though, regardlessConverted centre back due to no realistic alternatives
He's a CB playing at full back. Pullis would have loved himFullback, though, regardless
He's a fullback playing at fullback, players can have more than one position. And it's *PulisHe's a CB playing at full back. Pullis would have loved him
Whatever. He's a fullback playing at fullback, players can have more than one position. And it's *Pulis
If players can have more than one position then why are you by the statement above implying that he only has one position ? How would you have categorised Paul Warhurst ?He's a fullback playing at fullback, players can have more than one position. And it's *Pulis
He's a fullback when playing fullback and a centre half when playing centre half, with the ability to play both. Your mind tricks don't work on me...If players can have more than one position then why are you by the statement above implying that he only has one position ? How would you have categorised Paul Warhurst ?
You've answered your own question.Where did this idea full backs have to be six foot five come from?

You're falling to that classic forum trap of talking in absolutes. We signed Torp in the last window who wasn't far off this - and he hasn't hit his full potential yet. Vik, Hamer, Sheaf were also not instantly ready at those prices, either. So have transfer fees just shot up recently or have we given up on the Sheaf/Vik/Hamer style signings at around £1m? Maybe my scale is just well off. Just feels now we’re paying loads for gambles whereas before we were paying peanuts for first teamers.

It does me, there was no end of teams that played the ball in the air towards himDasilvas height doesn't bother me, it's that as a defender he seems to have no positional awareness whatsoever. He's so easy to get away from.

74.6% of stats are meaningless, the other 29% are just bullshit.Just to point out. Dasilvas aerial duel success rate (31%) while much worse than Bidwell (~51%) is about the same as van Ewijks (36%).
He would be a great signing. Plenty of experience already, proven at this level, and still young enough for us to develop.I rate Rudoni from what I've seen of him. He was the best player on the pitch in our game up there last season. Always showed for the ball, dictated play for them. Was a constant threat throughout. Plus he's only 22.

Yeh I don't think it's a major issue for a full back. If you're good defensively you can make that ball tricky for them whether you're tall or not. Problem is he isn't good defensively.Just to point out. Dasilvas aerial duel success rate (31%) while much worse than Bidwell (~51%) is about the same as van Ewijks (36%).
