Investment on the Horizon? (13 Viewers)

I suspect all this is pure speculation by Malaka, as something this big even as a rumour there would have been leaks however small from other sources including CT.

I think this is just an ego trip for the OP as his original post was slipping out of sight and this latest small tit-bit has revived it again.

Hope very much I am wrong and that something is happening.

Regards.
Bit harsh me thinks, Malaka is obviously 'tentatively" receiving information from someone
Who is very close too (but not inside) the higher echelons of the club. His updates always
Coincide with club fixtures, so would indicate he probably travels with to and from the game
With this person, he is always very clear it's only rumours.
A lot of people are quick to point out the reasons why any deal involving the Ricoh, SISU,
CCC, New Investors, Wasps would be impossible, but it's Obvious the person telling
Malaka hasn't said that much, titbits if you like.
It's obvious something's going on, it's obvious he's hearing it 2nd hand, I wouldn't be so
Quick to discount it if I were you.

Tim Fischer as owner of the club, as stated in previous posts does not sound that far fetched. Respected posters on here have said what an apparently nice guy he is when he is away from the club and he would have access to the right circle of business to put a deal together. Question is if it were him in control with the backing of a consortium could he win the fans round. At the moment we know he cant say what he wants to say as the ice queen has him on a tight leash and he tows the company line, perhaps this would explain the silence and the disdain he gave the trust when they asked what the price would be, he was trying to put them off the scent. Pure speculation but stranger things have happened.
But why would he want to? Where is the advantage to him?

I'm ignoring all logical arguments and the debate for now and just praying/hoping for the best.

I don't like the stuff, but if it is Red Bull I'm buying a shit load of jaeger bombs to celebrate.

No, because Fisher is a c**t and he is not trusted, it would seal the deal for me to never go again, not even away if Tim Fisher owned CCFC.

No its not okay but my point is there is no sense getting your hair off about it as whoever comes in (if indeed there is anyone at all) will have a similar agenda. Companies and rich investors don't buy football clubs for the sake of it.
Yeah, exactly. No-one is saying it is okay, but look at where we are now and where we are heading. Into obscurity at this rate.

Something has to give and it looks like a takeover or heavy investment is the only thing that can help us now.

I do not remember any complaints when the Solihull Barons ice hockey team moved to Coventry and rebranded themselves as the Coventry Blaze.
Not quite that straightforward.

They started as Birmingham Baron's before moving to Solihull in 1964 due to the rink in Birmingham closing. In 1968 they went out of business and a phoenix club, Solihull Vikings, were formed in 1970 lasting until 1974.

A new Solihull Barons was started in 1972, they became Solihull Blaze in 1996 and moved to Coventry in 2000 due to the availability of the Skydome and the poor condition of the Solihull rink.

In 2002, after a big refurb of the Solihull rink, Milton Keynes Kings moved to Solihull and became the Solihull MK Kings who rebranded in 2005 to Solihull Barons.

Good to see you being so assertive.

Not when I played against them they didn't. Probably went downhill later on, but still no excuse to Franchise to Coventry and change their identity to the "Blaze"

Hey who did you play for? I used to go a fair bit in the early 90's when I lived nearby.

What's stopped him doing it from the beginning of him being here? He could of easily asked Joy if he could be a major investor couldn't he?

The boat set sail with him as the anchor years ago.

Clearly it was a hypothetical suggestion, but what if he actually did invest lots of money into the club and made us a success?

Only second/third lining for Cardiff Devils and first lining for Cardiff Bears(English League Division 2.) Last time I played against them "Solihull Knights" I got a match ban for fighting(Dropped Gloves) unintentionally catching him with my skate down his face :(

Precisely this ^

Besides which it's really lazy to suggest that a big investment / takeover automatically means the destruction of a clubs identity and heritage. Football is a business now and thats not going to change anytime soon but clubs as a community haven't totally disappeared as a result because fans have not allowed them to. Look at Man City, money pouring out of every orifice but there is still engagement with the fans and whether you like their football model or not there is no denying the good they have done for the city of Manchester as a whole. I work in a University and we partner with Man Citys community arm to deliver sports education and the facilities and experience they offer is first rate. That didn't happen because the owners had a sudden outpouring of community spirit though, they were persuaded to invest that money by fans groups, the local council, surrounding residents etc etc.

Fans have a responsibility to their club as much as the club does to the fans.

Bit different to yesterday Torch, this is Tim Bloody Fisher we're talking about. Give me one reason why he deserves a chance?

Never said he does. I would be happy with a consortium playing at a new stadium at the Butts. Personally, I would want totally new people so no Fisher, Hoffman or Elliot involvement. And, a total clearout of the club management and training staff so getting rid of them all including Oggy. We need a fresh start, I think. Still, don't want it to be Red Bull however.

He would need to explain the years of bullshit as chairmen before I would even consider him as a rational human being who wants what all CCFC fans want...

Me too, it needs to be fresh, fans won't come back knowing Fisher is the owner. The damage is done.

Well that doesn't matter does it, as long as their is success on the football pitch that is the most important thing right?

Alright enough now, don't labour the point. We all know that success on the pitch isn't the only thing that matters but its massively lazy to assume that a takeover by a big commercial entity would only deliver success at the expense of everything else that makes City city.

Besides which it's not fucking Red Bull or Timmy fishface anyway! It could easily be just a stupid rumour with no basis in fact!

Of course, but Tim Fisher is damaged goods to nearly all CCFC fans, it just wouldn't work. It's like asking Blackpool fans if Owen gave up control of the club and Karl become owner and promised investment if they would be happy?

amazing, a mere rumour about a real future for our club, with owners who have success
On their minds, and certain posters are falling over each other to preach doom and gloom.
Like what we have is perfectly acceptable, I get the feeling there are insular supporters
Who would be more than happy with sub 1000 crowds, in there own little tinpot stadium
In non league, as long as they all thought the same way.

Probably won't be Red Bull. Pity though. I would rather City be owned by a leading Sport and Media Concern than the present hedge fund. The hedge fund was in it for a quick buck, Red Bull have a track record of sporting success. The other alternative is a Scheich, Russian, Chinese or any other loaded person who needs a toy to play with. Given that we need a huge amount of finance to get our own stadium and up the leagues, Red Bull would be the best bet.

I'm heading for cover.......

How is it massively lazy to assume that, judging by Red Bulls previous involvement with Saltzburg and Leipzig. It would be massively naive to think not.

Thankfully it looks like RB will have no involvement anyway.

The club was failing and losing money when Fisher arrived. He was sent to make a value led turnaround.

Up until now the opposite has happened- except that he has cut costs and losses.

If he gets someone to take us over and solve the known problems, then he has succeeded.

At that point, I will forgive him. :)

It hasn't happened yet though...

Because we are not Saltzburg, we are not Leipzig. I don't know any fans of either of those clubs to ask how they feel about their current situation so it's difficult to judge to what extent they feel they have lost their identity anyway.

God yeah, heaven forbid fans of this club ever have to endure the sheer hell of success.

You mean Red Bull Saltzburg and Red Bull Leipzig who both play in the same kit, changed from their traditional kits.

RB Leipzig are despised in Germany, Red Bull Saltzburg tried to claim they were a new club when they took over eradicating all their history.

As i say, i don't know enough about that to comment, but i don't accept that the same thing would automatically happen here.

Jimmy Hill changed our kit and re-branded us from Bantams to Sky Blues, just saying... ;)
