In the same way Red Bull Saltzburg are still Austria Saltzburg? Or Red Bull Leipzig are still SSV Markranstädt? Different clubs.

thats not what i am talking abotu here though

i am saying i would accept changes to kit and name to appease RB. not a complete rebranding.

RB coventry is acceptable
sky blue kit with redbul branding and trimming like their other teams is acceptable

Never said he does. I would be happy with a consortium playing at a new stadium at the Butts. Personally, I would want totally new people so no Fisher, Hoffman or Elliot involvement. And, a total clearout of the club management and training staff so getting rid of them all including Oggy. We need a fresh start, I think. Still, don't want it to be Red Bull however.

No Butts for me, Fresh start agreed whether it's red bull or not. Clear the decks.

Well I don't think we'd have any choice in the matter, they rebrand clubs thats what they do. We'd just be an extention to corporate brand.

A RB takeover not going to happen thankfully so not much point discussing it.

The problems FC are running into come back to their insistence in shunning the commercial side, I.e. sponsorship etc. There has already been a bust up between purists and modernisers if you like.
That said, they do get decent gates but perhaps the anticipated growth in attendance at the new ground hasn't materialised to the extent envisaged in the plans.

No he didn't that's a myth. Local football correspondent Nemo (Derek Henderson) did that. But JH was quick witted to capitalise on it.
Indeed the one rumour and then the current actions and actual evidence.

Yup, nobody who's been involved at board level at the club for the past 20 years deserves another chance. I might have my own views about who's ultimately responsible, but the best you can say for any of them is they've displayed shockingly bad judgement in getting involved.

And that's the best.

Really? Did she say that or rather did ML claim that? I think it was ML...
Interestingly or otherwise the original observer link is dead. Can't be bothered to find it on their site so make do with this ;)

PRESSURE is mounting on Coventry City Council and its leader Ann Lucas as she claimed she had believed information from senior officers when misleading the public with false claims about the Ricoh Arena amid its sale to London rugby club Wasps.

The Observer can also exclusively reveal evidence to show Coun Lucas last week made further false claims, wrongly alleging the Sky Blues had only been interested in buying back the stadium, built by and for the football club, on a FREEHOLD basis.

The evidence, revealed for the first time, comes from a letter written by Joy Seppala, head of Sky Blues' parent company Sisu, to Coun Lucas in November 2013, days after they met to discuss a possible stadium deal.
Coun Lucas made the further false claims in a BBC interview on Friday following a Coventry Observer story which referred to her previous misleading claims that the Arena Coventry Limited firm was profitable before the Wasps deal, when newly published accounts revealed it was not.

Critics have today called for an inquiry, and said the revelations cast major doubts over the entire Wasps deal and use of taxpayers' money.

The revelations raise questions over whether councillors had acted on false information from senior council executives last October when they voted in private to sell the council’s Ricoh Arena shares to the then High Wycombe-based rugby club on a long leasehold - which the Sky Blues HAD also sought.

Coun Lucas told BBC Coventry and Warwickshire she had taken advice on face value from the council’s “advisers and ACL shareholders” - which included council executives - when she claimed ACL had been “very profitable” without the football club in 2013/14. The accounts revealed losses of nearly £400,000.

She also accepted she had taken information to be correct, without any request for further evidence, when asked why she had stated the day after the council’s Wasps deal that ACL was “washing its face” - making a small profit.

Last Thursday, in an article on the Coventry Observer website, the council leader admitted the Ricoh firm had not been “washing its face”. She said on Friday that all councillors had acted on the same information, prompting further questions about how much they knew about the finances behind the Wasps deal.

The deal with Wasps firm London Wasps Holdings Limited meant £14million of city taxpayers’ money remained tied up in a loss making company, amid unprecedented cuts to council jobs and services.

Coventry council’s Labour leaders have repeatedly stated they would only loan to viable and sustainable companies. Wasps, now 100 per cent owners of the Ricoh firm ACL, were also reported to be a loss making company.

London Wasps Holdings Limited reported losses of £3.2million the previous year in the last available accounts. In a statement to its fans about moving to the Ricoh in a bid to save the business, Wasps admitted: “We run a high risk of going bust”.

The council acccepted to the Coventry Observer last week that the Wasps' business plan is based on the Sky Blues remaining as tenants for at least four years. But the loss-making football club continues to insist it too needs commerical revenue from owning a stadium.

It claims to still be seeking land just outside Coventry's boundary to build a new stadium.
The Coventry Observer last Wednesday raised questions with Coun Lucas over whether she had misled Coventry voters, taxpayers and Coventry City fans after the newly published ACL’s accounts for the year up to May last year revealed the net losses of nearly £400,000.

Still suspicious that there's no rumour other than Malaka

Takeover rumour has come from 2 sources, Malaka and Broken Hearted Sky Blue. They have a slightly different take on who it could be but both have heard separately that something is afoot.

All rumours at the moment, all we can do is sit back and wait and see what happens. No point worrying about it being Red Bull or Tim Fisher as it could be anyone at this point. If it is one of those then let's wait and see what it entails before throwing toys out the pram.

You're a reasonable bloke (I assume), why would they bother with such an act? Considering the limited PR they've engaged in since 2007?

Do you mean why would someone suggest a rumour that there is big money going to come into the club if the council stop been awkward regarding the Butts?

I don't know about reasonable FP.
Couple it with my other post on recent activity and evidence.
We are currently underperforming on gates I would assume so who can generate the significant fee this season.
If Investment is coming I see it as a bridge if a sale is unviable in January.
Couple that with TF's partnership building at the Butts, it doesn't reek of what I've been reading is going to be a huge takeover etc.
Maybe things are bad, as others have said when something sounds to good to be true it usually is.
No more than gut feeling for me FP.

I think Malaka has said he's heard the same rumour from two different sources
Within the club, BHSB then said he'd heard it was TF but didn't say where that
Came from.

I don't recall Malaka ever mentioning the BPA, it was definitely the Ricoh, others
Then decided it couldn't be the Ricoh so changed it to the BPA.

No he didn't mention BPA I am also not suggesting he would start rumours he would just hear them.

I can't believe some people.

We are in the shit. We keep thinking it can't get worse. Then it does. Many don't want another hedge fund taking us over. Once bitten.....

So we have a rumour. Someone wants to take us over. They will build us a ground. Just what we need. They will inject money into our club. It will stop us from becoming a Division 3/Division 4 club. Just what we need. It will get rid of SISU. Just what we need. But some say it shouldn't happen without knowing if it is true or what any details are. They are horrified that they might add a couple of letters to our name or they might change our kit. But we change our kit each couple of years. They might even change the logo on our tops to a picture to take over from a black box with words around it. How horrific

Please stay SISU. We prefer your bull to wearing a picture of a red Bull. We prefer to play at the Ricoh Arena that we don't own than the Red Bull arena ;)

Can't see it being Red Bull. Will give my opinion when I know what is going on. But how can it be worse than what we have now if it is someone willing to put money into our club and not into litigation?

Well I was busy last night
Great night up In Liverpool.
I've read through the thread again and again.
I'm still of the opinion it's something through Fisher and the Butts.
However as I've read back the third time something clicked through my mind where I'd mentioned an aspect of Andersons role through all of those meetings.
Those aspects must have been broached.
Are there two competing outcomes here?
He did seem an odd pick for CEO, I wouldn't have had him down as one for sorting mundane ticketing or retailing operations others lower down could take care of that.
I thought and think there was more to his selection and role here?
Time will tell.
