I'm sure they do, however it still isn't as many as a ground in the centre of town. And anyway wherever a new ground is someone will always moan that's too far, etc etc.
Baginton would be pretty ideal I think for many people, not everyone, but that's the way of the world.
For a rumour, it's generated a lot of comments
At least 80% of the thread has had nothing to do with the rumour, after a few pages it quickly became the same old discussion (and I use that word lightly)
Bollocks. The Ricoh is hardly a "walk up" venue either, is it?

To build a stadium so far away from from the population preventing a walk to the ground is commercial suicide.
Why would it be a bigger issue for us than it has been for Brighton for example? Everyone would love a stadium in the city centre but it isn't going to happen. We have to look to make the best of the options we have open to us.

Yep, those days are gone and this is not such a big issue. Those who enjoy a few pints beforehand will simply find other arrangements like drinking in a favorite boozer close to home then sharing a cab to the ground.
Yep, very fair post.
A lot of the criticism of the Ricoh has been about it's location and lack of pubs surrounding the place and it being rather cold and soulless just stuck out with not a lot surrounding it apart from the Arena Park. This location mooted would be much, much worse from that perspective. Even more remote than the Ricoh and therefore probably even more cold and soulless.
Such a shame the Butts surrounding area was developed, because that would have been ideal from the perspective of being in the heart of the community.
Many fans park in the pubs and clubs off the Foleshill road and then walk to the Ricoh there are no pubs or clubs near to siskin drive. The pub and the walk to the ground is part of the matchday experience. Sitting in cars in traffic jams trying to get into the restricted access that is Siskin Drive isn't the same. Love to move, but siskin drive would further dilute the fan base
Derby and Middlesborough clearly get no fans to their games.
Isn't Derby's ground 1.5 miles from the city centre?
.. and Middlesbrough's ?
1.6 in a car, 0.9 walking.
I don't see what point Grendel's trying to make?
We will have to wait for the clarification or the edit and denial !!

What % of Derby fans live in the town according to a fan survey conducted a couple of years ago?
But one of the biggest problems people have with the Ricoh is that it is slightly too detached from the city – and this would be far worse in my opinion.

That though is a minority of fans. Most travel by cars or walk up rather than public transport.

I'm not sure how major an issue it will be, but when I walk it costs me nowt.
Fine saying get buses and drive, but some on really tight budgets, this could be quite a factor.
Another issue could possibly less walk-up because it is a greater distance, i.e., at the moment I could decide to go at 7.10 p.m. and still easily get to the Ricoh in time. If a new stadium meant only car or bus as a option to the vast majority, a lot of people would have to make a decision to go much earlier in the proceedings.
Not trying to nitpick, just looking at possible issues dependent upon location. Wouldn't effect the die-hards at all, but we all know, we now only have about 7 or 8 thousand of them.
Best scenario is for the Wasps project to fail miserably and for CCFC to reclaim the Ricoh as their own (accepting of course that it was never officially ours in the first place, but it was built for us and of course has the sky blue seating and the JH statue outside to boot).
Yup, doesn't look likely though.
Depending on court proceedings I guess.
That's one court case we all want Sisu to win isn't it?
Yes, I suppose. But I don't see them winning it to be honest.
The best scenario, is SISU/CCFC win the JR against Wasps, ownership changes over to CCFC, with Wasps as a tenant.
I've also won the lottery twice today, scored 10 goals, and inherited 2 Lamborghinis.
Yep, and then we can charge them an extortionate rent and force them out!!
I didn't realise this was the case, just yet?
