Trouble is, he's contracted til 2013. We can't just let him go. We signed him for 3 years.
Can't just release him into the wild unfortunately.
If we have a strike force of Cody, platt and rod then we're in for a really struggle next year.
I don't think anyone thought Cody was shit, it was more the fact that he wasn't an adequate replacement for king, and by that I don't just mean quality wise, but fitness, type of player, etc.
9 in 15 for Hartlepool, in league 1. I think if he is still with us why not attack this league with 3 up front? Cody and Rod playing the channels off Platt. Let's not forget he does add a bit of pace as well.
His one and only really scoring spell in England came over 2 years ago when on loan at Hartlepool.
And he's back to the same level with us now, so who knows he may come good. If he stays, of course.
O'Donovan is at least a pair of legs we can use. We need depth just as much as we do quality-and assuming he is one of our lowest earners, having him around for that purpose makes him useful. Bear in mind-if he goes, there's no guarantee we'll sign a replacement.
All on free transfers though Stu-is ROD earning what everyone else in the first team are? Unlikely. My point is that his departure won't save as much as say the likes of Clingan and Bell.
