I agree actually. I always found the signing odd. Boothroyd in particular having signed him never wanted to play him.

He was signed for similar reasons as Platt-to be used in a worst case scenario if we had nobody else available. It therefore says a lot that Platt, I'm fairly sure, started at least half of our games last season.

To be honest, judging by how our transfer policy seemed to chance when boothroyd became manager I'm tempted to think most of the signings were his (including Keogh). ROD scored 2 v Colchester when Boothroyd was manager.
Yea tbf he is a it is my way or no way sort of guy, I would assume he had the largest input in all the transfers.
