Who's call is it in January for the player ?
We have several on short loan which could see us short in January as they are called back to cover injuries in their home team.

could be either. If we signed them on season long loans, what happens if they aren't in or around the 1st team, we maybe stuck with them all season. This has to be better than the old "1 month loan"

noone is getting ahead of themselves though

its not getting ahead of yourself to not moan and stress that season is a disaster in august. its called being rational

You're coming out and trying to argue about the team not being weaker than last year. You for one are getting ahead of yourself.

It's not rational, it's delusional not to have been concerned about the transfer activity so far. I hope it isn't the case, but if we miss out on the playoffs by two points, you'll be the one crying at the end of the year because we threw points away early on.

You just love an argument, and anyone that has a difference of opinion from you is automatically wrong. Typical adolescent behaviour, which is ironic as you're going around telling the forum how much of a big adult you are...

i think we will fight for playoffs again
we have a slower start yes, but i also dont expect a horror show after xmass again. it will even out

TM has control of budget, hes got a better scouting system this year. whilst its obvious we have missed out on many targets that doesnt mean those that have come in are not good enough.

i also think sordell is v good player and will do well for us, i am not pinning hopes on a AA loan again. think we have enough as it stands to make top 6

8 games so far and Tudgay and Agyei have 1 goal each. The other strikers (G Thomas, K Thomas, Reid, Sordell) haven't scored any,.

Early doors, but I think we are still a little light up top

understandable.

but if g thomas and jodi jones take some of their guilt edge chances we could have 9pts right and noone would panic about the strikers imo

we will be ok...i hope! no crystal ball here

Wouldn't exactly say I'm concerned about the transfer activity whatsoever. However I would say it could've been dealt with far better but in terms of the actual players that have been bought in I'm quite happy. Yes we've had a torrid start to the season in comparison to last year however this is due to a number of factors; injuries, lack of fitness and late arrivals.

If you look at the quality of some of the players bought in this season I think TM has done quite well. Jones, Sordell, Reid, McCann, Page, Bigi, Turnbull, Agyei, Sterry. I consider all of these players playoff standard quality. We've also bought for the future by bringing in K. Thomas permanently and McBean in on loan with a view to a permanent to make sure that we don't just think of the now.

Is the team stronger than last year? I would say it's about the same. We have greater strength in depth in comparison to last year. Our second team last season simply wasn't good enough for League one hence why the slump we endured was so catastrophic. Players such as C. Thomas, S. Hunt, D. Henderson, P. Ramage, M. Lorentzson, A. Phillips, MAF caused our slump because they could not fill in for those who were injured or out of form.

The two big loses are Armstrong and Fleck. I was considering adding Murphy but i honestly think he lost us more games than he won, he often went completely missing from the game, making it feel as if we only had 10 men.

A lot of people are saying that we need to bring Ryan Kent back even though he's gone to Barnsley. Lets be honest, he couldn't hit the Jimmy Hill statue if he was standing 5 feet from it. He has pace and creativity but whats the point when you can't deliver at the end of that?

Kent scored a lovely goal this weekend gone. Otherwise i agree, generally i feel the team is better than last year except for up front. If u compared last years attackers to this years, without the knowledge of how good arma is, you'd probably take what we have now. so maybe, just maybe its to early to call..

agree with most of the above. TM has built a good squad and now its all about what happens on the pitch. should enjoy some good form soon i hope

sterry seems to be highly touted by geaordies just like AA was. a betting man would put money on him to be better than phillips and lorensztken!

Gadzhev-as good as fleck?

Jones- our MVP and x factor just like AA and JM were

Sordell - links up well, gets assists. goals will come.

Reid, - we all love him when plays for opposition, why change now hes a sky blue? we all knew shooting a bit crazy

McCann, - won league last year. enough said

Page, - him and haynes should give us enough on left, but i am hoping stokes can play there when hes back personally

Bigi, - had him last year so if not upgrade also not a downgrade

Turnbull, - upgrade on most fans lovechild martin

Agyei,-once again highly touted, have to wait to see if has AA impact

Not so sure about top 6 prediction, safe but bubbling under is the way it looks to me.

I agree with you about Sordell (for this division), he will not be a prolific goalscorer, but he is there to hold the ball and link up while chipping in with something like 8 goals over the season. Agyei is the out and out goal scorer, but the team needs another fairly prolific scorer, George Thomas isn't really ready yet, I don't think Reid will score many & Kwame Thomas hasn't shown much in his professional career so far, so can only be considered potential to be developed, like McBean. Tudgay will get his usual 5 or 6 in a cameo role.

Surprised the club has a so many strikers Sordell, Tudgay, Reid, K Thomas, G Thomas, Aygei.

Cant tell if u are being sarcastic or not. think Turnbull is over 6 foot but the rest aren't.

no sarcasm, i genuinly just assumed all over 6ft based on willis and ricketts being centrebacks! stokes always looked tall to me when at ricoh andthis new guy is 5.11

if indeed i got it wrong, then ignore me!

could be worse,we could have kept lightweight martin!

TM got the best out of Martin, but new there was no more to come. Squad player at best but on first team wages... just wasn't value for money. Nobody wanted him here this time last year now he is TM's greatest mistake lol!!!

So you pick up something someone said and associate it with the fanbase.

Martin was fine, though also absolute kack with the ball at his feet, lest we forget. Could have kept him as he'd have done well in a back 3 but replaceable for sure, and replace him we have with Turnbull.

Some fans comment on players strengths and weaknesses and may have a soft spot for a player. I don't mind that. It is the constant slagging off regardless of what they do or in some cases constant love in without seeing the weaknesses, that I can't stand.

No I think he's got a point. Although we can't make final judgement until the window closes, with the squad we already had we have managed 2 points and 3 goals in 5 league games. Our squad is altogether weaker and has less depth than last year, so the concerns are valid.
If we pull through another 3/4/5 players to strengthen each area then just maybe we can be comparable, but even 2 more signings is unlikely to bring the team to the level of last season.
What's your opinion on the current squad, good enough? Comparable to last season's team?
If we had played shit I would agree.

We have been crap in front of goal. That can be changed. The one beating we got was when we were doing well until a sending off. We have made costly mistakes at the back. This can change. I fancy us to slowly climb the table. Hang on before you write the season off.
