Shipley will go. He's been in almost every since squad for the past 2 months and not once stepped on the pitch. What's worrying about this is, no matter what the score or the outcome of the match, MR doesn't use him but instead of bringing in a young u23s player for the experience or the step up, he keeps listing Shipley. Why is that? Do we not have a single u23 player who could step up in a crisis?
Probably keeping them in bubbles to reduce infections.

Hopefully with Eccles back and some others recovered from COVID/injuries then we won't need him.

Sure, but it doesn´t even sound like they are going to try.

TBf I'm reading it as he means no outgoings hopefully in terms of players we want. In his previous interview he has already said that he wants to move some players on that need game time.

As you say it would be disappointing if they didn't try and move on the likes of Jobello, but I doubt that is the case.

I'm sure you could give Shipley away to a L1 club for free. I think it's just playing semantics to say you can't when really what we're talking about is arranging a free transfer for a player who isn't wanted here, will want to play football and will be wanted at that level. If we're keeping him because of a last resort of COVID then it's a waste of resources as if he's gone we can call a game off for not having 14 players.

Hilsner and Jobello, again this is semantics. You can pay up a players contract and release them unilaterally. This may mean we make no savings but there will be secondary costs aroun insurance, training etc. that we save on if we aren't going to use them anyway. If we were to offer them a mutual termination on 90% salary I'm sure we'd get acceptance as they can then pick up a new club where they can play.

"What would you do if your employer said that you were going to have your contract cancelled - for no reason- and had nothing lined up?"

That is a false equivalence. What is more like reality is being on a 12 month contract somewhere and after 9 months them telling you they don't need you, paying you 3 months instead of notice and then letting you get on a find another job.
Well put LG - very objective and well argued. I guess that we will know if those conversations have taken place (and been agreed to) in the next couple of weeks. Although I'd be inclined to say they probably have - to no avail - as I'd think both Hilsner and Jobello would probably prefer moves back "home" and not sure if Window applies to where they may be looking to go??? (Lower league French/German divisions?)
Who knows!???

MR has said repeatedly that he's trying to move Pask, Jobello & Hilßner on, not sure where the notion we're not has come from.

We might be able to pay up Jobello (worst case scenario) but with Hilßner he still has 18 months left on his contract, that will be a hefty settlement for us to payout when there's a chance somebody could take him for nothing & it's not going to add to our budget is it?

Must be someone in the German lower leagues who wants him but wouldn’t pay anything like as much.

In terms of potential incomings, I initially fancied we would add a couple of quality PL loanees but must admit I'm not even hopeful of that now. With the current climate PL clubs will be reluctant to let their best young players go as they may be needed in the first team. In fact look at Wolves, recalling the likes of Ryan Giles & Dion Sanderson, actually weakening other teams in the Championship.

I suppose we're fortunate that we've loaned from Chelsea who have such depth that they're highly unlikely to recall Maatsen or JCS. We're also less reliant overall than previous seasons on loanees.

Anyone still friends with Burge ? Maybe he could drop a word to Sun'lan' if they could find a place for Shipperz ?

Didn't we take a "covid" loan offered by the EFL??

I dont think many clubs were impressed by the financial assistance package of efl...was just a loan that I dontvthink we used.

But I'm sure we used the furlough government scheme for players and staff.

Shipley I would think is our only decent player that would have a queue of league 1 clubs after him. He scored alot of goals in league 1.

It's a matter if he can agree terms better or similar to here. To balance off moving out the area potentially. I dont even think hes ever been out on loan.

Think we are close to coming to an agreement with jobello , Hilßner is a different case he has a longer contract as you say and is on a decent wage , Pask I think is also close to finding a club

The Hilssner deal is baffling. You could see in his first game (the rangers friendly) he was useless. Talk about shooting ourselves in the foot. Whoever scouted him should be embarrassed

From what I remember he'd been on trial/training with us for a while as well hadn't he?

It was the same bloke who said kastaneer was a coup 🤣

What like you saying he was a right player?

A few good transfers in the championship already. Can see us slipping drastically unless we do some business.

We won't be doing much, let's be honest. Might be able to sneak in a loan or two but that is it. And to be honest despite the blistering start, if we finished 12th this season it's a massive improvement and we go again next season with another years experience at this level under our belts.

Always very well informed @Skybluebeliever so imagine this must be close to happening. I'm still musing on your recent comments about how it could be an interesting couple of months if certain things materialise... Can you shed any further light on this? Presumably this relates to off field things?

European scout ?

We have 2 full time people in recruitment

Think it’s the same people that scout all the players whether in Europe or the UK

Correct although technically 3 now I believe with Pete Wilding but he obviously only works with recruiting 16-20 year olds for the Academy.

Badlan & Benthom coordinate all first team recruitment with a handful of part-time scouts that report to them.

Now this is a move I'd have been happy for us to make.
A little surprised Brighton are letting him go in the current climate in truth.
