I like the move for Rak-Sakyi MUCH more if it's a buy. Zero experience of grown man football means it will take him time to get up to speed but he has a lot of potential.
I was looking at appearances rather than minutes but I guess this way is fairer.
Spot on, that's the crux of the matter, it is him or Bertie to play that closing down striker, neither are good finishers but we know which player has more potential.Listened to BTA last night at the Coundon Supporters evening, and you cant help but root for the guy... but then he goes through on goal and all of that is forgotten.
One thing I will say, is that he's not had a run of games in his best position, so it's hard to build up any rhythm. Watching the highlights from the WBA game last season, he looked a completely different animal to what we've seen, I fear the signing of Norman made him redundant however.
If we can move him on, and get in an actual right winger to rotate with Tats, then I'd do so, rather than trying to shoehorn him in on either flank.
You really don’t. His scoring record throughout his career is poor and his all round play is Tavares level. He’s might come good but somehow people have memed him into the next Vik. BTA for all his faults was a solid 1 in 3 striker before he came here.
Says £2.25m rising to £3m
Thomas-Asante transfer fee revealed after West Brom exit
West Brom have sold Brandon Thomas-Asante to Coventry City and the true transfer fee has now been revealed from The Hawthorns.www.westbromnews.co.uk
Interesting in this article they felt that had he of had longer on his contract he would have been worth even more (says £8m on here)
Are we as a club just not very good at handling forwards? Gyokeres aside we’ve had BTA, Chaplin, Tyler Walker, Simms, Clarke-Harris who all came in highly regarded who haven’t done so well at our club. Simms did last season but took him a while to get going and then he’s dropped right off again.
Are we doing something wrong?

Comical.
Maybe in a year or two potentiallyI agree, but there has been rumours of Brighton, Newcastle and another prem club monitoring him. I think him being capped by Belgium has inflated his reputation but prem clubs could see him as a cheap punt
Yep Lati and BTA seems two of the bigger characters. Lati is vocal on the pitch.nwill need to be factored into the replacements which seems a tough ask in JanuaryAgreed. Though like Lati a slight worry we are shipping out good characters from a squad light on them.
Anyone can sign players, signing the right ones that your manager wants is a different story. Calm down. That’s just bollocks, clubs around us are signing players this window
It’s not almost 50% is it, we only paid about 500k more than that. Not a chance Doug accepts £1.75mill for BTA. We know the blokes to proud to take a loss of nearly 50% after 6 months.

Disagree, look at Ayari last season. Completely out of his depth for us and is now a regular starter at Brighton. If they see something they like in him they’d buy.Bassette is barely ready for the Championship, there's zero chance of a Premier League side coming in for him
Could always look to loan one in. Assume we’d have some wages left over?
I got ridiculed the other week for saying the club was good at suppressing leaks yet here we are 2 weeks into the window with so many rumours yet no concrete action. I wouldn't be surprised if we signed someone that's never even been mentioned. We must have other irons in fire surely, sounds like being kept well under wraps if so.
Just makes sense to shuffle BTA and Lati - ONLY if we reinvest though, cant have another Palmer situation. As you say, we need to be careful here with just shipping everyone out.
You could look at it as saving the remainder of his contract too albeit he'd need to replaced by another body, if not in the same positionSurely that's worth considering.
With Lati potentially going for a fairly reasonable profit the club hasn't lost anything if BTA is sold slightly less for what he was bought in for.
You'll want a player that can play anywhere across the front 3, maybe that is where the Bamford rumour someone posted earlier today comes from.Agreed but we play with one striker and ideally a 10 but we don’t have a 10 so BTA runs around a lot.
You could sell BTA, retain wright, simms and Bassette for that single striker role and use some of the money to loan in a 10.

If Lati is sold are we not looking at bringing another CB in or will we just have to make do with 3 until the end of the season?
It’s so wide of the mark.
As if they’re going to sell one of the centre backs, without replacing him. It’d mean 3 cbs when we often play 3 at the back. And zero cover at RB

We’re only playing 3atb due to injuries. If Thomas came in we’d probably never use it.It’s so wide of the mark.

Burroughs can cover MVE (lol)
In part correct but in part because we were conceding too many goals. We’re only playing 3atb due to injuries. If Thomas came in we’d probably never use it.

Does nothing to strengthen our God awful defence thoughShifting BTA and Lati for a highly rated prem prospect in CM would be a miracle.
I do hope so cos he was up to that exactly 2seasons ago? We’re only playing 3atb due to injuries. If Thomas came in we’d probably never use it.

Stoke fans seem to really want BTA even though he’s not linked
