I was going to make a thread about this actually

Seemingly the investment he planned to bring in hasn't been forthcoming which has changed his outlook

He strolled in thinking this owning a club lark was easy, you could flog players for a huge profit most years rinse and repeat

When hes discovered that indeed isn't the case (remember, he himself admitted he know nothing of football) he's realising just how hard owning a football club is now the honeymoon period is over

So the club isn't up for sale in the greatest sense of the word, but he won't be here by 2028 I can 100% promise you, that may even be a lot sooner with how it's panned out recently
To be fair to King, I think we probably would turn a profit overall on our spending from summer 23.

For all the doom and gloom on here we are a more attractive proposition to any potential new owner than when he came in.

Ot wouldn't surprise me if King came in thinking it would be easy. We were flying and constantly doing better than the year before. We had just lost a game on penalties that was worth £100m.

And the fans were with the club for the first time in years.. Things got choppy when the managerial partnership failed.

Crikey we’re getting wound into a ball of angst about this window. January is always a damp squib. Not sure why we expect anything of significance.
Well we have a new manager who I assume has has a few promises made to him and has a lot of reorganisation work to do to make his team....

Firstly we have no idea what promises he’s been made. And anyone who attempts a reorganisation in January is on a hiding to nothing. Not to mention we haven’t got much headroom in terms of squad numbers. It’s obvious negotiations on outgoings are taking place. Until that happens whether it be in terms of cash generation or numbers being freed up no one will come in.

There was an article in the national press last December time.

It surprised me that no one seemed to pick up on it.

The general thrust was Coventry had thrown money around but the money spent - especially on wages - was unsustainable and King had realised it.

More recently, you can see articles out there - the latest being in Leeds Live - that Coventry City’s financial problems are being acknowledged and Cov need to sell.

I would suggest a reasonable assessment is that City are now more likely to be relegated in the next say 5 years, than get promoted.

The high water tide was last season.

This is it

Hence why the money tree can't be shaken anymore

I mean yeah and if I spent my lottery win on Pokémon cards I’d be able to sell them too, but I shouldn’t have to within two years.
Is this not the whole idea though ? Sell players on for profit . You would expect that if players receive a 3 or 4 year contract a reasonable time to sell would be with one or two years left on it . I take journalistic stuff like this with a pinch of salt unless they can back it up with actual numbers

The point is we shouldn’t *have* to sell halfway through a season after that sort of windfall. To be in financial trouble less than two years later is poor financial management.
