The thing is, we have proper interest in BTA, You'd assume we would keep him benched etc to prevent injury

No, not us

He's starting today

'Shop window' comes to mind
Frank loves his work rate doesn’t he ….

I wouldn’t risk playing him if he’s the way we plan to fund our incomings this window

Someone needed to be sold this window if we wanted to pay for incomings

That was looking like Latibeaudiere as we would have made a small profit

However with both Stoke and Blackburn showing concrete interest in BTA and looking like we can recoup our cash, Latibeaudiere plays in more needed positions (CB,RB, CDM) Than BTA (ST)

Hence the decision that Latibeaudiere is more important to us than BTA

Hopefully any deal with Asante can be done quickly to allow us to spend some of that cash
Good point, well explained.

Lati is a much more useful player than many give him credit for

Appreciate there’s half the window to go, but I’m becoming pretty disillusioned with it all. Moving on Lati and BTA would have been a really good start, especially for the fees mooted. If we have doubts over replacing them then do our recruitment team only plan a week ahead?

Yes, if there is interest, move both on.
Even with Kitching, we could have let him go. Rumours of Allen too.

Frank could have started to put his stamp on the squad.and looked to bring in some fresh faces.

Seems we have a habit of teams having interest in players/players being out in the cold and looking to move on.....then they play in a game, do ok and all of a sudden the squad is ok again!

Getting rid of BTA makes complete sense .
Unless we’re in dire financial trouble, or unless he’s had some kind of argument with Lampard that there’s no way back from, I don’t see why it makes “complete sense” to take a sizeable loss on a player after 25 games when your squad is already too small. We’re not about to get a January warchest by flipping BTA to Blackburn or Stoke.

Nothing agreed yet so the sizeable loss you state isn't necessarily correct. With a fully fit squad BTA is behind Bassette in the pecking order. We are fortunate that there are 2 clubs potentially interested in a striker who doesn't score goals with little evidence of any improvement. We need to get what we can and move on. If we don't his value diminishes rapidly .

Proven Championship striker. Baffled by why we’re so keen to get rid from a fans point of view. Hope he does start today and does well. The level of criticism he’s had is ridiculous
I don’t get why we’d wanna sell him ahead of Lati. Lati has limited potential resale value £2m would have been a good deal

Throughout his career a goal every 4 games isn't that great tbh for a proven championship striker

Nothing against Lati or BTA but we really need to strengthen the midfield. Neither are starters and with three of our best player out into next month I just feel we could slowly drop closer to the bottom three.

The way we’re overplaying Milan I do worry he could get a serious knock that risks big funds in the summer.

All for trying to be self sufficient but think Doug is really underestimating the chance we could go down.

I think the reality is, you can’t do a team rebuild half way through a season in January. There simply isn’t the time and clubs are playing the game, as are we.

I don’t think our squad is as bad as this forum seems to think, however it is light, which is what I’ve been saying for months. Lacking depth in midfield especially.

The fact that Burnley (top 3) and Blackburn (5th) are in for 2 of our “unwanted” players says it all.

I’d be happy if we can get the injured lads back asap, not lose anymore and get in midfield help. Jamie Paterson clearly isn’t the answer, however it’s another body and he has ample experience that this level.

let’s see but I really hope we can get 3 points today, desperate for them.

I see the ITK guy thinks just because there is interest in BTA he shouldn't be played perhaps the manager rates him and will play /keep him.IMO dispite people wanting most of the squad gone after a bad result. The squad isn't that bad all it lacks is confidence. At home were currently 6 since last defeat ,string a couple of wins together and the picture soon changes.
Everyone seems to think they know better than FL.the guy who is payed to do the job

Flog BTA and we’re down to two available strikers - in a team that’s played two up top as much as we have this season, that’s far from optimal, and you then have no other choice but to play Tavares or move Wright from out wide.

Unless BTA is going to fetch a lot more money than I expect then selling him is not going to fund the rebuild of a squad that is already drafting in ex-MLS locals off the street to make up the numbers. I would say his value to us is best realised by having him do what we paid for and contribute to the squad.

We are 2 injuries away from being in the shit. If any combo of MVE, Dovin, Biddwell, Eccles, Rudoni or Tats are injured we are past bare bones. Imagine having to play Collins, JDS/Borroughs until the end of the season or a midfield 3 of Lati, Allen and Torp. We need as a minimum a CM and a RB or we are hoping we get no injuries in those positions.
