No he didn't. Millwall were League 1 until the last season after getting promoted. And he must have been about 38 when he joined us. That alone was a gamble.
No it was before it got rebranded to the Championship. The first season of the championship was the 2004/05 season it was called the First Division before that. Before that league one was the Second Division, and League two was the Third Division.

Doesn't time fly when you're having fun. Must be nearly 20 years age then 😆

I know, I miss the proper First Division before the Premier League years 😂
Was great but took it for granted. Always something to play for at the end of the season. Players took a 2 footed tackle and got straight back up most of the time.

But the last 8 years have been fun.

Why do we desperately need loans ?
Loans and experience can be mutually exclusive, we tried signing Joe Worrall on loan in the summer and there are plenty of players out there not getting game time.

Going into this season the gaps were pretty evident, the leadership core from the MR era has gone and we hadn’t actually signed anyone new for our midfield/defence with the exception for Rudoni. In terms of headcount we are still about 2-3 players behind the 22/23 season cohort.

Probably because our squad needs to be developed still? Maybe loans to transfer at the end of the season if they make a difference?
A try-before-you-buy deal is one of the only scenarios I’d want us to hit the loan market in January. If we’re not going up or down this season then we shouldn’t be spending tons of money to develop another team’s youngsters.

While its obv a good thing the he is prepared to u-turn on things it would be nice to have someone in charge who doesn't make so many mistakes in the first place.

We really need him to bring someone in who knows how to run a football club but I can't see it happening.
King has not banned loans or experienced players. We tried to sign both in the summer.

sorry if that spoils the narrative for some.

I trust when he said he’s looking to recruit one. Ultimately people make mistakes football people or not (look at Stoke on that one 🤣) but rather people who come out to front decisions or make changes when they admit it hasn’t gone to plan than people who hide away like our previous owners.

any legs in Marcus Bettinelli on loan until the end of the season?

possibly not a priority but an experienced keeper and a Chelsea link, wouldn’t be a bad shout if true
I really hope so as it glaringly obvious we need a fourth goalkeeper, along with the youth goalkeepers, to see us through to the end of the season.

He has played a lot last four years as well so will be able to come straight in.

The narrative is he does not want to pay the sort of money experienced players or Prem loans cost. We were not gazumped apart from possibly Browne (although there are rumours he was canned in favour of Stamenic). King would rather buy a development player to make money.

Hardly a narrative is it, the guy doesn’t want to spend a penny more than ‘he’ feels appropriate which is clueless

My take is that he does not want to run the club into massive debt and he will trade to break even in the long run whilst striving to get into the premier league. There are plenty of clues in what he says. What I am not too sure about is what he will do if and when we get that promotion.

Which I believe to be incorrect based on Kings own comments…. The next few weeks might prove that

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned here, but have been told a rumour that Kitching and Collins will be leaving in Jan, we are also looking at bringing in Tyler Bindon from Reading at CB.

Every player has a value and if you’re priced out on wages or transfer fee, move on or else you end up like Man U with a stable of players they paid too much for and pay too much to get rid of.

Rumors were that Collins was off on loan to Plymouth. Haven’t heard anything on Kitching but it’s not like he’s featuring.

Tyler was mentioned by football league world which is mostly crap but half the league appears to be interested
