Transfer Rumour January transfer window (96 Viewers)

What’s worrying is the signs our best players want out rather than us wanting to sell and rebuild. Sheaf and MvE have already switched off while they wait for a move, having Wright checked out as well is seriously worrying. Clearly some of them were getting itchy feet under Robins as King said it was a reason for sacking him. The appointment of Lampard seems to have done nothing to reverse this in face value.

TBH I’d sell if he’s not committed, we’ve got EMC and can bring in a proper number 9 it’s probably worth it. You aren’t going to raise rebuilding money selling Lats and Collins.

To be fair dom, that’s a bit of a nothing article. Says both teams are considering it which means they haven’t even decided to go for him.

The teams mentioned aren’t the point, the thrust of the article is Haji wants out. Teams will just be agent fodder to get someone interested.

the furthest it would go is "how much do you want for Wright?" and then they decide they don't want to pay the money we want

there is no way our best player in a January window unless it is for a massive to0 good to turn down fee which they ain't paying.

He can put his name out there all he wants. Let’s be real, we will sell him but the price we will ask will either put teams out or will be too good to turn down.

We haven’t so far let any players bar Callum go for peanuts.

I’m more concerned with having a star player checked out. Selling him would be the ideal, him hanging about until the summer not giving his all the worst case scenario

I dunno. He’s a streaky player at the best of times.
Would be a huge player to fill the role off if he did go. No idea who we’d even look at bringing in. EMC would be a good starter in LW but we’d need a natural striker?

Tom Cannon or Richard Kone would be names I’d look at but haven’t really even thought about it

My worry would be King would say we’ve got three strikers in Simms Bassette and BTA so why do we need another.

He’d have a point though right? You’d probably want to see Simms or BTA gone at least.
Ideally for me, I’d look at moving both on depending on if Simms has started to score again(maybe some better crosses from Thomas could help with that).

BTA is just a weird signing and if true I have no idea why Mark wanted him here so much. Obviously managers always want more and options but doesn’t seem to fit in with what we want to do, either with Mark or Frank

I think he wanted someone to do the O’Hare role of energy and pressing and he had a decent return last couple of seasons, until he got here he was a roughly 1 in 3 striker.

I mean he’s got a good track record? I think he’s just been badly managed and his confidence is in the gutter

Yeah. I’m torn. I don’t rate him but he did score plenty last season. I just wish he had a nasty streak in him and was a bit quicker. He just plays so nice

The irony for me is that of the signings we have made it’s the UK based players that have disappointed more than the foreign imports.

They know the English league. No language issues, no cultural challenges.

why ?

Part of me thinks we get rid of Simms and he goes and notches 20 for another championship club. Is it him or us?

Both, we don't have any midfielders who deliver any killer passes, he might do well at Sheffield United because they have midfielders that can deliver those killer passes, but do Sheffield United need a striker.

To be fair this is literally King’s model. It keeps us sustainable. Invest again and sell again.

Exactly, eventually we'll get to a point we can sell a star and we have someone ready to step into their shoes across every position in the squad. Like what we'll see if Wright leaves and EMC is there.
