Attendance

We are one of the best supported teams in division 3 and probably one of the top 5 ever supported teams to have sat in division 3 for this long.

We have had this debate many times and I will defend our fans to the hilt everytime

This is how I feel. Yes our support could be better but IMO other fans have never had to put up with half the crap we have. Sixfields was the tipping point for me and a lot of others. Without blaming anyone it almost killed the club. So yes our support could be better but getting over 10k a game is not bad either.

If Mowbray isn't capable of achieving above budget he is by your own admission mediocre at best and should be sacked given we also have clapham Venus etc. on the payroll. I highly doubt Burton were a top budget team last season.

How long did it take them to build that side? They kept losing managers through building success. But the club has had a lot of continuity and like most successful organisations the leadership comes from the top down.

The Burton side was built on several seasons of progress, not a succession of knee jerk reactions.

I know that he has taken a lot of criticism recently but I always look forward to hearing his after match thoughts (away games only) as I think that he makes a lot of sense. Would be interested in hearing anyone else's views.

As for Juggy, I would like to know what he knows about dominoes before making a decision.

Personally if I haven't attended I take a look at a whole lot of comments on the forum from people at the game, some from the radio and some from the general media which should be fairly impartial. From that I think I can get a rough idea of what has been happening.
There are some on here who are eternal optimists and others usually glass half empty, often it is best to ignore both of these types and head for the middle ground for a realistic viewpoint.

I prefer to just read the football side, tactics, players, any silly mistakes, any stand out bits etc etc.

We've paid a fee for Turnbull and Jones, one of only 6 clubs in the league to pay a fee at all.

The reason we're so woefully underprepared is because the manager doesn't know what he's doing.

No? Just saying that there's ovbiously money there to spend, it's Mowbrays fault he's left it so late.

Although I don't think Jones is anywhere near as good as people think

Turnbull wasn't available earlier. They have monitored the situation all summer.

Not neccassarily referring it to that particular transfer, why were are we so short in other areas when there's money clearly there to spend?

Because this is the real world and how football works these days , it isn't football manager on the ps2

He's had 3 months you lunatic. Now we're gonna panic sign bringing in 5 or 6 in a week and a half.
Lunatic ? Every club in the country is still building their squad , it has become harder and harder for lower league clubs too do this with the introduction of the 25 man squad list in the Premiership and the ridiculously late finish to the transfer window .
And as for panic signings I think we would've signed Ojala and Smith if we were panicking
Do try and keep up !

He has a budget and those that were available over the last 3 months were not deemed good enough, he has waited for clubs to see who they are retaining and who to send out on loan, these loan players often have a fee and a wage to factor into the budget.

TM doesn't want to sign people for the sake of it. So he is waiting for the right ones to become available. It is a case of that and I am sure he has missed out on targets aswell.
We know about the Wilson one, because it leaked out. However I am sure there are a lot more than that.
So let's see what happens in September first

I worry about Mowbray, this is not a League for powder puff players, especially in Midfield and Central defence. To succeed you have to have a couple of steel players to take care of your often younger lightweight flair players if the opposition have a couple of kickers . We got bullied last year when they all found us out, is he going to let that happen again !?

In the championship Blackburn had 10,356 Rotherham had 8,367 and QPR had 13,307...last year when we had a little success we topped 17k so we have a support base without a doubt BUT we are on catch 22... we need to win and be in with a shout to attract the fans back and we need to have a bigger budget to maybe attract a better quality player/players so get yer asses up there for a few games even if its shite and try to support the team...Fuck off with the NOPM it aint working !!!

Yep on phone, meant budget...

Our fans must be the only ones obsessed with the budget while openly refusing to go to games and NOPM.
More bullshit from our Nick.........
So we are the only fans obsessed with the budget.

But that was a January window. Hardly anyone is available, especially for no money. So you either gamble or leave yourself short. Did he commit any of those players to long contracts or was it just to the end of the season?

Here are some Mowbray quotes:
Once the money is spent it is spent.
There are plenty of pebbles on the beach it is trying to find the diamonds.
The better players often become available late once the Premier League teams decide their squads. You can only spend the money once.
Location can be an issue (he means at our level and wage structure some players don't want the cost of relocation. We aren't the only team trying to sign the quality so we won't get all our targets. It can be as simple as location).

That's why I have always said it will take two to three years to build a good team. I think Burton took about 5 years.
