I'm very firmly in the don't care camp when it comes to ex players.
All the best
That doesn't mean they're crap!!

He has 7 league goals and 2 are penalties.

You say penalties like it's a dirty word. As it they're not "real" goals. Wasn't JUke the penalty taker while he was here?
Don't forget Sheff got one in the Cup too.
Kduffy. It's useful to compare their stats this season. Juke played 26 games scoring nine times, one is a penalty. McSheff has played 32 games, scored eight times with two penalties.
Would sheffers have scored more if we had played him as a striker though? You need to do a like for like for a proper comparison.
They don't mean anything in terms of goal ratio as a centre forward.
Anyway I have nothing against McSheffery he is fine but I fail to see what the comparison to Juke is with him anyway.
Very unlikely. If he is a striker why have no manager considered him good enough for that role. What that says is Thorn, Adams, Black, McCallister, Bruce, Grayson don't know what they are doing. He clearly is not a striker or would at his age and experience made the position his own.
So then he's a midfielder with a very good scoring record? 101 goals in 302 appearances.
Disagree stupot it does appear they have built it around him. Even putting Emness on the bench.
A lot of people on here are taking the moral high ground over Juke. For me I'm being critical of him as a footballer for us not on any personal level. he was indeed gracious and a fine young man who played his heart out for us.
I'm merely looking at the facts and figures of it all and how his presence either helped or did little for us when making my comments.
Emnes has only been on the bench 3 times out the the 13 games Juke has been at Middlesborough - he's scored 4 in that period.
There is a difference between trying to fit them all in a system and actually building a system around a player. I compared it with Carroll as although he has started 28 games for Liverpool, the system is built around him like it was at Newcastle.
Juke 9 goals in 25 starts for us this season - 0.36 goals per game (1 in 3)
Platt 3 in 19 starts - 0.16 goals per game (1 in 6)
Nimley 1 in 13 starts - 0.08 goals per game (1 in 13)
Cody 2 in 10 starts - 0.2 goals per game (1 in 5)
He hasn't suddenly turned in to a crap player overnight.
Don't get me wrong Juke gave his all just think he is a limited player .
No doubt about it though, Platt has been fantastic since juke has left.
If he could bag a few more, he would be a better player!
Of course it does to some people. Some have even implied Westwood was over-rated. What irks me is when players give their all for the team leave without uttering a bad word against the club they are then subjected to bilge and ridicule. It's beyond pethetic. Turner is probably a useless lump and gunnarson a cocky, lazy sod. I give up.
My issue with Juke was goals/chances ratio. Don't know the stats but he would fluff 3 good chances a game before he'd score. Platt is guilty of it now - but he's being played as an assist maker to reduce the impact this has - Juke was our main/only goal threat. With him gone we've changed to a style that suits our squad so, whilst I like Juke, I think his departure helped us in more ways than just getting the 2 loanees in.
Agree totally. We've picked up nearly as many points in a much shorter period since juke left than when he was here, and are playing more of an expansive team game. I don't understand all the juke arse licking when it's obvious we are a better all round team without him and he's done nothing for Middlesboro.
All the best
juke got us the few points we had before the tun of the year, how can you forget that?
he is more of a target man yet because we lost king we relied on him to be a 20 goal striker, how is that his fault?
he got 9 goals in 1 half of the season,so on course for 18 all season, but with nimely he would be fantastic
dont blame juke for having to spearhead a cack team, same thing would happen if platt/nimely were upfront on their own.
I agree, but there are too many "ifs" in there for my liking. He's gone, we seem to be doing better without him, let's all move on.
Good luck to him.
i never said we wernt?
my point is not that we should have kept juke but that we should appreicate what hes done for us this season and that he is a quality player
Agree he was a good player. He did well for us, but he's not here anymore.
so???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
why dont you stay out the thread if you dont wanna talka bout him?
