As for the protest. Is this just a one-off or will there be a boycott of every cup game? That's given that we progress, of course.

If so, it would be interesting to see what happens if we drew a big team at home.

Sadly the people of warwickshire, much like the people of coventry find any excuse to support someone else

But you shouldn't discount fans from Warwickshire. I've been a City fan all my life but have never lived in Coventry.

I agree. In which case you need to include the whole county for other clubs as well. Which is my argument. Just saying cov is the 8th biggest city is irrelevant, you need to look at the population of the whole area. Warwickshire is not as heavily populated as you might think.

Said like a true fan. A true Coventry fan anyway. "I don't go because I don't like the owners" but I'd suspend the protest if we got to Wembley

I've got a season ticket and have had for the last 17 years running - so try again genius.

The protesters have every right to do so and it would be pointless trying to boycott with a big team at home as others would go and they would be simply cutting off their nose to spite their face. Imo they would have more right to go without feeling guilty about doing so than the other 18,000 who would turn up that don't go to watch against Barnsley or Doncaster.

To be honest all the arguing about sizes of cities, rural areas and conurbations is pointless. Our fans have only ever turned out in numbers when we're doing well and I imagine that will always be the case. Regardless of what has been said, Southampton, Leicester, Norwich, fans have always stuck with their team regardless of how tough the going was.

I'm certainly not saying they don't have a right to boycott and I've pointed this out before. Really, I'm just thinking allowed and was just wondering if the boycott was a one-off or not.

ha, 8 wins in 2011
no top 6 finish since 1865
no success at all apart from one FA Cup
Constant mismanagement

etc etc

Then again, fans have kept coming over the years and they still will. It's just nowadays there's a lot more choice for the discerning customer than their used to be when I first started going home and away regularly, circa 1978.

Maybe if it had been now then I would have stayed in my bedroom with my PS3 and virtual friends.

I dont know the populations of the counties but Cov urban area is 336k, Nottingham is 666k

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_urban_areas_in_the_United_Kingdom

Basing the argument purely on the city size suggests that everyone within the city boundary supports that cities team and everyone outside it doesnt. As we know supporting a local team isn't as simple as that.

I do not want to continue the statistics argument but actually Warwickshire has a population of 536,000.This excludes Coventry - check the Warwickshire Observatory census website. Nottinghamshire is 669,000 (excluding Mansfield). Coventry has a population 20,000 more than Nottingham so Nottingham catchment is 21% greater than Coventry.

Nottinghams 2 clubs average a combined total of 28,644 versus Coventry average of 14,780. 100% more with 20% bigger population.....

You're an idiot. Gonna hang around and hurl abuse at people going to the game and completely undermine everyone who actually have good intentions too?

Enjoy the game scabs.

Oh picket line now is it? Only difference scabs outnumber pickets 10 to 1 - not exactly the miners strike is it?

You're a dangerous combination of anger and stupidity.

You realise that one of the points of the protest is to not turn on fans who do something as terrible as want to go watch the team they support play football, right?

What you believe in is abusing people who are doing nothing wrong. You're an embarrassment and this kind of thing doesn't help the people protesting at all.

If you don't want to be called a scab then don't act like one.

Yes, you are an embarrassment. One of the major points of the planned protest is to not abuse people going to the game, particularly as that includes a number of the people protesting in the first place. This idiotic tirade undermines the good intentions of the sensible people here trying to get things done.

I hate to be pedantic but a "scab" is a term for someone in a union who crosses a line of union employees who have agreed a ballot to strike. Even if we rather dubiously take this analogy into the football supporter arena there will be more people in the ground than stay away so you are the scab aren't you?

What are you trying to get done? Nothing by giving that lot more cash. It's us,the stay away fans on Saturday that are going to suffer. What's your contribution to the cause? Nothing.

How exactly are you going to suffer?

Exactly why the boycott is not a good thing for our club with idiots like you on board. The Save Our City campaign must be right proud of you.

Yes,your fucking spineless scabs.
