We're not a modern elite team. And our issues aren't necessary in possession it's when we don't have the ball especially on the transition, and particularly down the left hand channel.
This is a very astute and out of the coaching manual post. Also, very true. We're worse than Plymouth out of possession. Makes you wonder what all the iPad wankers are getting paid for. We're not a modern elite team. We do, and I think it's because we're trying to play too much of a possession based game, and our centre backs aren't good enough to play that way. We've always been at our best as quick direct counter attacking and counterpressing team. But we play far too much in our own half, which just invites pressure. You say that but we overturn the ball ridiculously easily, especially in our own half.
No, put tactics played by elite teams filter down to other teams. We're not a modern elite team. And our issues aren't necessary in possession it's when we don't have the ball especially on the transition, and particularly down the left hand channel.
We do need to be better on transition and on the left, hoping Binks will get this role. We're not a modern elite team. And our issues aren't necessary in possession it's when we don't have the ball especially on the transition, and particularly down the left hand channel.
To be fair I think the pressure came about a lot on Saturday through of centre mid trying to be a bit too ambitious with the pass and our shape being too disrupted to funnel back.We do, and I think it's because we're trying to play too much of a possession based game, and our centre backs aren't good enough to play that way. Yeah, the issues is the lack defensively ability. The point of 3-2-5 build up is that you have a solid central base of 5 players able to stop transitions when you lose the ball

Will fit right inLost me at... Weaknesses - Concentration.
Though I agree with you to a certain extent and players at this level should know where to be without the ball. However, good coaching installs out of possession play vigorously theses days and our lot look clueless at times. What about the player's, they are the ones on the pitch! Coaches can only do so much, once the players are out on the pitch it is up to them to sort it out and react to what is happening in front of them.
That's why we were changing to a 4-4-2 in defence which should be more solid than a base 3-4-2-1 system as the wing backs in the 3-4-2-1 can get caught too far field. The biggest weakness of that formation is the vulnerability to wide counter attacks, which is where we are already vulnerable. We've recently played 3421 with the box and wing backs, so basically already have the 3-2 base and still shipped goals from the sides on the counter.

Yeah, fair point. You do need CB's that are comfortable on the ball in that kind of possession game.We do, and I think it's because we're trying to play too much of a possession based game, and our centre backs aren't good enough to play that way. If we're looking to make a change at LB, there's only him or Bidwell really.Seems quite a few of us are thinking the same about bringing Kitch back, and trying Binks at LB.
If we're looking to make a change at LB, there's only him or Bidwell really.
You'd imagine Binks would get up the pitch better and put some nicer balls in compared to Bidders, but my only concern would be positioning.
We don't want just another version of Dasilva at LB that's constantly going to be out of position leaving space.
At least teams wouldn’t be able to play over his head and get past himIf we're looking to make a change at LB, there's only him or Bidwell really.

How do you know he’s a good playerGood player will mean there’s less emphasis on just Milan to push meaning he can be fitter later on in games as they can swap filtering into the back 3 in transition. Means EMC is less isolated out on the left and will make our play more unpredictable because we can come from either side and be just as effective
Watched a little bit of MLS over a few years and some highlights of him on youtube this morning, also looked at his statsHow do you know he’s a good player

If the players are not following instructions haul them off but I guess the problem is we are not playing well and we have lower level players in the majority who are getting paid a fair wack so they are possibly more than happy to sit there on the bench instead of fighting for the team. In my experience when you play with better players they want to win more and it rubs off on you, being in a successful team definitely spurs you on fo sure but its catch 22 to get to that pointWhat about the player's, they are the ones on the pitch! Coaches can only do so much, once the players are out on the pitch it is up to them to sort it out and react to what is happening in front of them.
Not really as our recruitment team won't stop scouting. Also there's option 2 and its just complete bollocks and we are just being randomly name dropped, as is often the case in these links.Does anyone else find it odd that we are linked with a player before Frank has his feet under the table? Surely that means he has not been involved in it or had a say so far. He must be given the say so on if he wants him or not
No, why would you stop looking and researching the market and why would you assume a media story is accurate it might be something Wagner's agent has generated.Does anyone else find it odd that we are linked with a player before Frank has his feet under the table? Seems a bit pointless but unless it is what Frank decides he wants. Maybe its legacy from when MR was in charge but my point is it shouldn't be the chairman or Dean Austin deciding what players get targeted. No, why would you stop looking and researching the market and why would you assume a media story is accurate it might be something Wagner's agent has generated.
Recruitment teams literal job is to scout for positions and players constantly. No point waiting a month for Lampard to ask for a certain position then have to start a lengthy scouting assignment when all other clubs are doing the exact same thing.Seems a bit pointless but unless it is what Frank decides he wants. I think the tea lady could identify we need a new left back.Seems a bit pointless but unless it is what Frank decides he wants. Maybe its legacy from when MR was in charge but my point is it shouldn't be the chairman or Dean Austin deciding what players get targeted.
