He has a really good 25 mins yesterday
Could have made a couple of goals
Thought his performance yesterday was indicative of him as a player overall.

One outstanding piece of play to score, a couple of promising bits of creativity & lots of giving the ball away, passing it straight out of play, questionable defensive work, stupid petulant fouls & a yellow card.

Robins called him right and knows his shortcomings and seems to have given up on changing him

I don’t understand the desperation to “get rid” of someone- you think he’s done worse than, say, Eccles, Torp etc this season?

lots of poison in some of these posts, talking like he’s a total liability, when the facts are that he’s done ok. Anyone with a rudimentary understanding of the game can see it- but no, SBT groupthink has decided that he’s a waster, so let’s all demand he’s sacked immediately. Zero perspective, all knee jerk hyperbole.
Right RoS. I said let’s hope it’s tempted someone to take him off our hands. You interpreted that to desperate to get rid.
I said hope it puts a few quid on his price. You interpret that to poison in the post,he is a total liability,he is a waster and a demand he is sacked.
It’s you that has the problem. You say he has done ok this season. We have played three games, thats 3 .
And yes I agree he has had a couple of good cameo’s, .Remind me how many minutes he has played.
Casey Palmer has never been a consistently good performer for us since he arrived, unfortunate but true. Plenty of others agree with that, including the club. Which would explain why they refused to offer him an improved contract.

you need to chill out, it’s not some personal dig at you, it was a comment around the general theme of “he’s useless” with no discernible evidence to back it up this season

Robins knows him and will use him in areas he can hurt the opposition not us... Good squad player that unless money comes in will be in every squad if fit this season.

Quite chilled thanks. You quoted my post thats all. Roll on Tuesday.
He’s bound to score against Oxford, and with a bit of luck they’ll buy him.😉

We all know that Kasey is inconsistent. He can be brilliant one moment and turn games in our favour and then make a silly mistake.

I think his positive attributes outweigh his negative ones. One thing is certain : if he could consistently play at his best for 90 minutes he wouldn’t be our player because he would be on the books of a decent mid-table Premiership club.

it’s also on Torp, Eccles, Lati, Simms and a fair few others. Why the extra focus on Palmer, why should he get singled out like this when hardly anyone has started really brightly?

Torp and Eccles have been heavily criticised this season. Lati has had a lot hurled at him - especially last season

More selective reading from you

Two half decent cameos shouldn't paper over the cracks for Palmer. Hasn't delivered any meaningful numbers in his last 8-9 seasons at any club. History says he will do well to feature in 20 games, won't play 90mins in more than 5 of them and probably get 2 goals max. In summary, a conman... And an expensive one. Needs moving on.

It’s two games out of three this season
Both against his former team where he had a point to prove after he gets stuck from their fans.

Let’s see how he gets on in the coming matches. He’s 28 and hasn’t really had a stand out season so I’m not holding my breathe on him producing 10 goals or assists this season.

that right- all his contributions so far don’t actually count.

I think it's an indictment of our midfield recruitment that Palmer has failed to establish himself as a regular starter in 2 seasons at the club yet some still think he's the answer.
The point here is that we haven’t recruited in midfield - that was my point last year. In 22/23 we had Hamer and all his goal contributions and we’ve still not replaced that.

So far, I’be not been impressed with Allen, Torp or Eccles. We’ve looked open in every game and frankly, we need more quality if we have plans to be a playoff contender.

Were two CMs short let’s be honest: a partner for Sheaf and backup for Sheaf

I don’t think they outweigh the negatives and it appears the club agrees. He just can’t help himself on the pitch and it’s deeply frustrating that he hasn’t found the discipline yet.

The numbers don’t like on this one and come the end of the season I’m certain we won’t renew his contract.

Agreed on that. Getting that next number 6/8 type player will really lift our team and I just can’t see us not getting someone in before the window.

The midfield has looked below par in every game so far this season.

We don't really need to worry about his contract status, just if he's going to do it this year?

Really we’ve got Eccles as a decent backup 8, Sheaf as a decent starter 6, Rudoni as a 10, and Palmer/Allen/Torp as backup. Need a first team 8, a backup 6 who can take over from Sheaf next season, and to let go two from Allen/Palmer/Torp (probably the first two).

That’s how you sort the midfield IMO.

(I have no idea if I’ve used the right numbers for positions - lower is more defensive right?)

In the pre season games Palmer played a part in most of our goals.
