I keep saying it. Collins probably looks good in training stopping shots and collecting crosses, because he has no opponents in front of him.
The man is frightened, scared stiff of getting hurt. No amount of coaching can give him the guts to play in goal.
Confronted by an attacker he goes to pieces and cowers away.
How he keeps getting selected baffles me.

We can't play Bell. I'd love to drop him in and see what happens but if he made a mistake it would ruin him

It's wilson next and we pray to God he doesn't do anything stupid

Wilson likely will do something stupid at some point, but at the moment Collins does something stupid every game so it can't get any worse.

Lampard and the coaching staff clearly see him as the superior keeper of the two. I understand the urge to banish a keeper after a bad error but it doesn’t necessarily make him unplayable.

It’s not A bad error though is it? It’s every time he plays

tbh I feel sorry for him at this point. fuck knows what happened to him but something clearly has.

He has been so bad this season to the point he's a literal meme and the only person who seems unable to see it is Lampard.

I didn't agree with it but at least when he was sat on the bench over Wilson and people were saying Wilson is out of contract at the end of the year so why would they play him there was a reason. Now Wilson has renewed there's zero reason for him not to be playing.

I'd even have named the actual bench over Collins in the matchday squad - what an absolute clown keeper

Collins shouldn't have been even considered, Wilson has to have an issue, Collins looks the exact same as he did the last time he was dropped, he has no confidence and the defenders have no confidence in him, both goals he played a massive part in today, at 1 nil we had a great chance, Burnley were there for the taking today, as mad as it seems if Wilson is carrying an issue I would throw in Bell, Collins will cost us any chance of the playoffs

I think the outfield players feel nervous with Collins in goal. Even before the two goals went in it was noticeable how little he was included in play. Very few pass backs to him compared to when we play Dovin.

I imagine they get pissed off.

We were never going to score more than 1 against Burnley. So all their efforts were for nothing because of his cock up

Have you had your eyes shut for every game he's ever played for us?

Hes a liability
He’s had some dreadful runs recently (today included) but he hasn’t played badly in every game he’s played for us

Fair enough if you want a ‘next man up’ approach to the GK position every time one of them makes a mistake, but where does that end up?

You don’t keep playing someone who makes a horrendous error every game

It’s more his confidence is in the gutter and that then means the defence don’t trust him. I wouldn’t mind a cock up and it’s not the end of the world but he can’t seemingly get out of his own head

I feel for Collins

He makes one mistake and he drops every single time and then plays so unconfident that he’s scared to make another mistake which evidently causes one. Which causes him to panic further

It’s a spiral and he’s been on it for a while.
He’s not good enough.

It’s not fair to keep playing him. He should drop down a couple of divisions

Yeah I agree. He was decent stats wise in our purple patch last year and did a decent job with Barnsley in their play off year but he needs to rebuild himself.

Lower division would afford him a few more mistakes to get some confidence back in him.

Not to throw any blame towards Dr Claire but this is the type of situation sports psychology was made for.

Getting all riled up about how he should never play again will just make it worse when he starts Wednesday.

Worryingly Joe Edwards seemed to brush off the error as not a big issue. Get backing your players publicly but I really hope this isn't a sign that he will be playing wed.

Managers coaches are not going to slag him off in public.

Tbf to bell and any of the youth keepers, what chance have they ever got of making it? Never going to be a clear route to the first team. Definitely the hardest position for a youth player to break through.

He fucked up the first goal and then it was a horrendous mix-up with Kitching for the second. Maybe I’m just too forgiving, but I think you have to see if he can get a grip in the next game and see if he can be the keeper we need him to be with this system. The alternative is punting him off forever and going with your third choice.
Seen it before - he'll play in the next game - have nothing to do.... Everyone will think it's all ok. Next game, a bit of pressure and he folds...

Making it here, you’d have to be very good or Lee Burge. Sometimes for a lot of the youth players it’s about being at top club to get the development with the expectation being to go to a lower down league team to actually start your career.

It’s not about wanting to be angry at him.

For his own good, he shouldn’t be playing. He isn’t good enough

It’s basically his first game back. You can’t just bomb him out unless you’re writing him off for good.
It’s just the worry I have with. Would love for him to stick two fingers up to us all and turn it around and do think if he could get one clean sheet he could absolutely do that.

It clearly matters to him. He was furious with himself after the second today. That’s a good sign IMO. And his distribution is miles ahead of Wilson which will probably matter more against teams lower down.

Of course if he starts Wednesday and lets in another two clangers then we’ll probably rightly never see him again.

Just watched the goal back for the first time.
The decision that Kitching made was totally down to Collins coming out of his box when he didn't need to.
Then, there was another chance to stop the goal and he was an absolute pussy and just let the Burnley player get the ball.
Looks worse on Collins each time I watch it back

Haven't seen the first one back - but on live viewing, he took himself out of the game going to get involved in the group of players.
If he's doing that, he needs to come out with the ball.

He clearly cares and that is not a problem at all.

The problem is he cares too much about making another one and gets stuck in his own head. He’s a lot better than he’s playing but he is playing shite cause he can’t go out of this rout.

Distribution is miles ahead of Wilson would actually say it’s probably the best at the club. He just needs a game without mistakes, with ideally a great save and he’d be a different player imo but I just worry it’s more likely to be the opposite which will just make it worse as it has
