Kelly & Fadz (1 Viewer)

I didn’t even want to put Allen in but we’re short of midfielders.

9/11 arguably Championship quality though.
Hmm, don’t think Moore, Lusala, Rus, Tavares or Ayari are. And Fadz isn’t in a back 4. Kelly pretty limited too, and Allen looked very League One on Friday night.

I imagine Fadz is excepting of his role and situation at the club right now. He seems to be a good guy to have around and can still be an influence on a daily basis within the club.

Kelly i think is going out on loan, followed by Tavares. Both need games for different reasons but come summer both Fadz and Kelly will be gone permanently. That day would be good to see them getting a good send off as both deserve recognition for what they have gave the club.

I think at least one will join the coaching department, one does a bit now.

Oxford are a decent league 1 team. If we think we can get past them playing a load of out of form/past it/young players all at once we'll find ourselves heading out the cup again. It rarely works.

Play as a strong a team as we can and only rest people who need it, the frequency of fixtures in January isn't that high (no midweek games)

McFadzean still has a role I think. If we ever switch to a back five he’s a natural choice. Kelly - I imagine he’ll be off trying to earn a summer deal in L1. Don’t see Godden going anywhere.
I would rather Thomas, Kitching and Binks.

Isn’t that the general idea though??

In a thread about players who are past it?

I was literally just trying to make a team of players not likely to be here next season.

Bar Rus and Lusala they’re all players in our first team squad and should be able to play a L1 side though. If they can’t their career here should be over.

I know fadz and Kelly are no longer first team starters, but to suggest they aren't championship level , despite both putting in good performances already this season in the championship .. is typical city , they are squad players in a top half championship team

Fadz played about 3 bad matches before we moved to a 4 , more than capable of playing against Oxford United.. fadz played most his career in a 4

That side will make sure we are only in the cup for one round
if Ayari plays it means he will see out his loan contract with us! If Brighton dont recall him to go out again i think his days are numbered with them as well. I still have not seen what Brighton paid £5 million for personally

Wilson, Fadz, JDS, Kitching, Binks, Allen, Kelly, Eccles, Ayari, Godden, Simms.

Didn’t want to play Ayari but I think and hope he can at least play against a League 1 team. This lineup should hopefully be competitive enough against a good L1 team that’s pushing for promotion.

All those talking about an Ayari appearance need to consider the chance of him going back to Brighton

If this is on the cards Brighton won’t want him cup tied

I’ll be there you bunch of bloody plastics.

Another plastic here.

We're giving tomorrow a swerve and watching ifollow. There are tickets available still but can't be bothered with the drive up after a potentially late one tonight and been there 3 times in last 18 months.

If you want to give Fadz a game it’s in a back three really

Wilson
Lats Fadz Binks
MvE Kelly Eccles Dasilva
Palmer Allen
Simms

Gives you the best mix of experience/quality and not over playing people. I’d probably take MvE off at half time for someone, hope Simms gets a couple for confidence. Maybe Sheaf in for MvE and Eccles on the right as he’s missed a couple so should be fresher. Maybe Ayari in for Allen.

Edit:

Actually looking at minutes played this the team that needs the most minutes:

Collins
Dasilva Fadz Binks Bidwell
Kelly Ayari
Sakamoto O’Hare Palmer
Simms

Brightons track record is first class. He’s still very young.

He’s mainly featured for us when we were at the worst part of our transition. He may look better now but there are others in front of him.

Tickets sales for this game are as horrendous as the starting 11 will be 🤣
It will be a huge walk up like Wrexham was last season. Given the 20 points on offer for attending I am surprised more would not buy online, unless loyalty points can be retrospectively applied from cash tickets

Yeah I think Oxford we’ll see the current bench starting I reckon.
Wilson in goal, fadz, Kelly, Ayari, Bidwell starting.
I fancy he’ll have Obikwu as the striker on bench with Tavares.
but certainly strong enough to win.
Isn't this a recipe for a repeat of what happened against Wrexham last time out?

There is a trend for the bigger clubs in Italy and the wider continent to keep an experienced old pro to play in the reserves/U21 teams to lend their wealth of experience to the younger players. Doesn't seem to have caught on here. If it is affordable, seems like a great idea.

A few clubs, Brighton, Man U and Southampton started doing this a couple of years back. I’m not sure if they still do?
